Margaritaville Skier Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Sugar Mt in North Carolina is up and running with 7 trails and 3 lifts. Start nite skiing 11/20. Quote
rastasquid Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 thats ridiculous. I could be riding in NC tonight, but Sno and Elk are nowhere near open....crazy world we live in Quote
skifreak Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 What's going on Margaritaville. Long time since we've heard from you. How have things been? Quote
Margaritaville Skier Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) 12 hr drive for me to get there. Will be heading to the Pocs about 12/15 and staying up thru mid Feb. Gotta get my snow fix. Other than that, spending my time golfing, fishing and scuba diving. Life is great when you don't have to work any more. Looking forward to my fun on skis in a couple of weeks. May hit Sugar and Beech on the way home in Feb. Been getting ready for the season watching Ski Patrol- Blue Mt on Tru TV. PAX Edited November 20, 2008 by Margaritaville Skier Quote

Justin Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 I'm hitting up Sugar tomorrow, I cant believe im skiing in NC way before any NEPAers are gonna be making turns let you all know how it goes. Uh Boulder is opening with 4 lifts tomorrow.... Quote
Margaritaville Skier Posted November 22, 2008 Author Report Posted November 22, 2008 Not sure how long of a drive NCskiPA has but it appears there's more and better terrain open at Sugar than what the're talking about at Boulder. NC, let me know how that drive is from the Poc's. I hope to stop on my way back south from CB in Feb. PAX Quote
NCskiPA Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Not sure how long of a drive NCskiPA has but it appears there's more and better terrain open at Sugar than what the're talking about at Boulder. NC, let me know how that drive is from the Poc's. I hope to stop on my way back south from CB in Feb.PAX Went to sugar on Saturday, the conditions were great but the the people who ski down south are ignorant and inconsiderate. I live in Greensboro, NC but grew up skiing in PA and NY. The drive was only 2.5 hours for me but from the poconos its roughly 9 hours to sugar. I trail set up at sugar was lacking with only a double chair to run top to bottom so the lift line was long to say the least. They were offering early season rates and it was still $50 for basically 3 trails. The early morning was fantastic with no crowd and perfect snow. After lunch the crowds became unruly with the trails to congested to ride safely. Plus for some reason Snowboarders in the south tend to take off their board and walk down the middle of the trail. Southern skiers suck. I never thought i would say it but I miss Sno and Elk. But for the south Sugar is the best it will get. Quote
Margaritaville Skier Posted November 25, 2008 Author Report Posted November 25, 2008 Thanks for the critique. Maybe I'll just make my usual return down I95 in Feb when my season is over. Quote
