Blong131 Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 my parents are thinking theyll take our family of 4 to heavenly for my winter break...i guess they found availability at mariott the that is gondola adjacent there could anyone whos been to heavenly give their thoughts on this? will snow conditions be good at this time? i think we're leaving the 21st and coming back for new years Quote
Erin808 Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I just lost a long reply. It could go either way depending on storms. I can't hate on Heavenly because its where I grew up skiing but the best thing about it is the location. It's right in South Lake and close to the casinos. It have *some* advanced terrain but since it is at a relatively low elevation it doesn't get as much snow as Kirkwood or Sierra. I would try to talk the rents into a day at Kirkwood, or take the town shuttle. It's the best mtn within and hour or South Lake. Sierra gets dope snow since its base is super high but its really small and not that challenging. But I do hear they cater to boarders and have a great park. There is def a shuttle from S Lake, it used to stop at the Pizza Hut and Ski Run Blvd (i.e. close to Heavenly) Dude its a free vacation to Tahoe, it will be awesome. Quote
CaptDave Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 take a look here http://www.skiheavenly.com/mountain/conditions/ and that should give you your snow conditions answer. I dont think they have had one decent storm yet. Tahoe early season is a roll of the dice. Last year they received like 6 feet of snow during the holidays. This year nothing ..... Quote
Schif Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Killebrew Sorry the Baseball Hall of Fame inductions are in the summer not the Winter. Quote
Johnny Law Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Sorry the Baseball Hall of Fame inductions are in the summer not the Winter. Did I F that up ? Maybe that's another Mt........then what the hell is the name of that area with all the little chutes kinda....... Quote
askier87 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) It's risky doing a trip out to heavenly for christmas. There has yet to be a substantial snowstorm out here yet. I am temporarily living out here at the moment. Forecast does show snow coming in for this weekend and the dry weather pattern may finally be coming to a halt, but as of right now the only snow at heavenly is the fake stuff. Hopefully that changes soon. In Stateline and the general lake tahoe area there is other stuff you could do to occupy your time (casinos, bars, sightseeing, etc), worst come to worst. theprogram, where are you staying during christmas break, I don't really know anyone out here and need people to ski with haha, provided we get some snow.
