LineSki Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 i want to make a trip up there this season. i keep hearing about there park and really just want to know like a rough list of what they have in it? and o yeah i heard they put up a quarter pipe this year? Quote
lurker Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Same here, I was going to make a run up tomorrow (Monday) for the first time, but it might be raining. If I go and I can give you the scoop, but I might not go. I'm really interested in what their park has too. It looks really nice from the site, and its pictures. I seems like its really hard to get to the park all the way on the left of the mountain from the map. Is this true in real life? Anyone know? Quote
skifreak Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 From what my friend said but I'm not sure cuz I wasn't there (maybe justo could classify)but he said that its real icy over there and with the rain I don't think its going to help. Quote

I noticed some of the comps are there, so I think I'll take a look. Edited February 14, 2005 by The_Public_Enemy Quote
lurker Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Maybe because you've been in Vail you lucky bastard! Haha, I'll have to see if I'm still going or not . Quote
Hallraker Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 as of sunday the park had 2 or 3 big hits, maybe 5 smaller ones. rails up were: flat down rail, medium battleship, the weird rainbowish rail i can't describe better, c box, s rail, c rail, big battleship, large rainbow, flat down box, flat box, flat rail. the beginner rails up were the pyramid type box, short flat rail or two, picnic table, tiny little battleship, mailbox, and a smaller rainbow rail. the pipe was in great shape all weekend, but after the rain it's probably kind of crappy. soldier32 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 man it sounds like they have some really good stuff. ive gotta hit it up before the end of the season Quote
Hallraker Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 you definitely should, it's been great most of the year and they change it around all the time. i forgot about the flat down flat rail before too. Quote
soldier32 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 do you know if theyre having any competitions there anytime in the remainder of the season? Quote
train36 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Whats up hallraker, train36 from SB.com. Whats up everybody just got back from Bear a little while ago and today was real nice. All the landings were nice and soft and the park crew was going through and fixing up all the lips real nice. The jump line is real nice and there was some kids going off, saw a few back flips, though you are not suppose to be inverted no one seemed to care. Temps are suppose to drop and they need to blow some snow to touch some stuff up but the park was in pretty good conditon. Its pretty hard to explain everything thats there they have such a good variety, the rainbow box/ rail is about 6 inches wide and about 20-25 feet long, and is a lot of fun. They have about 6-8 jumps ranging in sizes and lots of boxes and rails. If you have not hit up Bear yet and like doing some park riding I suggest you get there. They schedule contests frequently check the website www.skibearcreek.com. I was talking to a guy that works there and there is a big-air contests towards the end of the season that should be cool, he said they will start to build the jumps up soon. I am probably going back up on thursday. Quote
lurker Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Man now I'm super excited to get there... Do you know if its going to be really crowded next monday? (Presidents Day) Knowing other places, the answer is probably yes. Quote
LineSki Posted February 16, 2005 Author Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) im going up saturday. anybody who skis there how are the crowds up there on average. and dont they have a high speed quad. Edited February 16, 2005 by lineski2007 Quote

Justo8484 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 its the slowest lift in the world. its almost quicker to hike. Quote
lurker Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Ahhh, I hate that... Oh well, you do what ya gotta do. Quote
skifreak Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Yeah that thing takes forever to get up. Quote
flick Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Weekends are pretty busy during the daylight hours, but whenever I'm there at night crowds aren't a problem. As for president's day weekend, screw going anywhere...just stay home and wax up. Quote
skifreak Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) Oh no the t-t-t-tourists are coming lol. Edited February 16, 2005 by skifreak Quote
LineSki Posted February 16, 2005 Author Report Posted February 16, 2005 o yeah presidents weekend o well im not wasting my money this week so next saturday. but do the crowds ever get as bad as cb on the weekends. Quote
Hallraker Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 check their website for comps, i know there is at least a slopestyle comp this month yet after that i don't know. i heard from a higher up instructor this weekend that they are still gonna blow snow when possible, so they should be fired up this weekend. as i said the park is still in good shape and the park crew does a good job keeping the lips and landings in good shape. kids there are almost always killin it. sadly i'm not one of them and probably won't be the rest of the season thanks to the flat down box. monday will be pakced beyond belief if the weather is nice. they tried to get me to work but i wouldn't dare. lots of beginners in jeans will be out on rental skis and boards. hopefully this weekend won't be too crowded. Justo8484 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 that flatdown box is super sticky. i tried a 270 on last time i was there and almost died. thank god that thing is too low for me to nut it. Quote
Hallraker Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 it's weird, some days it's sticky and other days it's really slick. i just caught and edge so it didn't much matter if it was sticky or slick. Quote
lurker Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Haha thanks for the heads-up. Knowing me I would have totally killed myself on it. Quote

I disastered to boardslide last Saturday night and as soon as I touched the box my board stopped and it slammed me into the ground. I didn't have time to get my hands down and I broke the fall with my face heh. Quote
Papasteeze Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 We are headed up to Bear Tuesday night - will post on the lastest and greatest features at the Park - Did anyone see him at Blue today? Little black suited munchkin spinning 270's onto their flat box?? Quote
