gahskier Posted December 10, 2008 Report Posted December 10, 2008 I am as upset as the next person about the warm weather but no one can control mother nature. This is the best start the mid atlantic ski areas have ever seen. You had a chance to ski three days at Blue before December. Go back to 2001 when Blue first opened on 12/26/08 now that was a crappy December. 70 degrees and shorts ruled that month. Go out and get some. Quote

ColoradoHigh Posted December 11, 2008 Author Report Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) You know what makes this worse? Louisiana getting snow. 1-4 inches of it too. Now THAT is fucked up. Winter will start on the 21st but even then, the forecasts look bleak the temps are going to be in the mid-upper 40's, and rain. I don't think we'll see a 'record breaking' winter, for the next 10 years even. This is just too damn depressing. Edited December 11, 2008 by Chippy Quote

This is an aside but AtomicSkier do you buy into global warming? I can't find the article now but I read an article in an engineering journal that said the majority of US engineers DO NOT believe in global warming, where as the majority of the full population does. I personally don't. We've seen hot periods, and we've seen ice ages. It's all cyclical. Quote
Schif Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 I personally don't. We've seen hot periods, and we've seen ice ages. It's all cyclical. There it is in a nutshell As for current weather, its raining here, a lot of it is freezing onto cars and buildings, its supposed to switch over to snow tonight and by morning we are looking at between 1 and 3 inches. sibhusky Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Well, they couldn't open here. We used to open on Thanksgiving, but with new ownership, they pushed the date back over a week last year and the expected opening day this year was Dec. 6. That did NOT happen. They opened this past Tuesday with TWO trails, one green, one blue. However we have started to get snow. Of course, I haven't been cleared to ski yet. I go to the Physical Therapist (actually I go to the facility 3 to 4 times a week, but I don't always have a session with the PT) today and I've asked that he do tests to clear me for skiing. I am the ONLY one so far who thinks I might be able to do it. The surgeon said February, my husband says take the season off, and the OTHER PT (the guy's partner) says I'm not "going to get out of (there) that easy". I know I may find that they are all correct, but I'd like to give it a shot. But if my PT gives me any kind of clearance, my goal is Monday. Quote
