RidgeRacer Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Just back from another nice day at Jack Frost. I got there around 10:30 the temp was around 11 degrees with the wind chill in the negatives. The top of the Mt. was a windblown hardpack but on the trails themselves there was a fast packed powder surface. After a run on Thunderbolt I headed straight for East Mt. River Shot was really fast. It looked like they were blowing snow on everything but River Shot (which was open) and Floyd's. I decided to check out what used to be the Elevator to see if there was anything skiable with all the new snow and I noticed pretty much everything is overgrown with branches and thorns. Maybe once they start blowing on Floyd's some of that will cover it. I headed to the Challenge glade which was fun and a bit of a leg burner and skied it from the top to the bottom to the East Mt. lift. The snow in there was kind of crusty in spots and heavy in others. When I left the temp was up to 19 degrees. Overall a nice December day at Frost. From the East Mt. Lift approaching the top In the trees to the right of Challenge Quote
gdthomas Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Yeah I got there around 9 and was not ready for the wind chill since I had lost my good gloves and was just wearing two pairs of fleece liners and my hands got to cold for comfort so I left a little before 10. Quote
ectobar Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Where exactly is 'Elevator'? Is it off the skiers right of river shot? I've seen talk of that and another run thats not coming to mind and never really knew where they were. Quote

RidgeRacer Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 The Elevator used to be a marked trail a few seasons back when Jack Frost's trail map used to have like 30 marked trails. But it was cut out I believe when Peak took over. The trail map used to look like this... Quote
ectobar Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 After hearing it talked about a few times that's pretty much were I thought it was. I've never ridden it though, or actually seen anyone ride it for that matter. Quote
