It's going to be cold right through the 20th it looks like.. with a couple snow chances and cold cold temps the amount of new snow on the slopes at the end of this could be pretty ridiculous don't u think? No. There are only supposed to be a couple moisture starved clippers. Cold air masses like this tend to surpress storms to the south. Like a meteorologist said a few days ago, it's going to be too cold to snow. The atmosphere also gets really dry, so anything that tends to fall will evaporate. I think all the resorts in the area are gonna take advantage of the ridiculas cold spell. The colder it is the more snow they can make and with it being below zero it almost forces them to make powder which piles up like crazy. HouseMuzik Posted January 13, 2009 Report Share Posted January 13, 2009 I was thinking the same thing this could be an almost endless winter if mother nature forgets to look at the calender..we need to do anything we can to keep this arctic blast in place..it's really not right to sacrifice a goat but maybe some bras and panties as a sacrifice to the snowgods!!! Ratios with these clippers will be high.. thus it will not take much moisture to make 4" of snow or so.. normally the ratios are 10:1 .. these temps are conducive to 25:1+ ratios. So .1" of precip will give you 2.5" of snow we should get at least several inches of real stuff.. plus tons of blown stuff.. I think if this pans out... it could be a very long season if we're lucky!
