ColoradoHigh Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 I just got back from an epic morning at Blue The True. We pulled in at around 8:20, to a temp of 3 degrees. Today was a demo day and such so a bunch of tents were at the base. We skied Paradise for a few runs to ski off the Rust we gained since after Jay Peak. Paradicey had very good, soft snow, and this was the same with the entire mountain. Once I skied the rust off, we lapped Razors Edge and this HAD to be the run of the day. There were a lot of people that came in at around 10. Closer to 12, I decided to try telemark skiing, and let me tell you that it is VERY different than alpine skiing. Since I have never done it, I kept forgetting my heel wasn't locked in. After a few turns on Paradise, I got used to the free heel method and really liked it. I wouldn't mind trying it again. I will be back at blue tomorrow morning, so if anyone else decides to go, tell me and I would love to ski with whom ever. Quote
ColoradoHigh Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 How were crowds? Not to bad. When we left at 1230, it started to get crowded. How was JF? Quote

Johnny Style Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) I entered exit three on the Blue route this morning around 6:30 and it was 19 degrees. It was -5 F. in the Blue Mountain parking lot at 7:45! I think the top of the mountain heated up to an even zero and they announced -10 F. wind chillls. I skied the bumps every run except for two, after which I couldn't feel my fingers. Bumps were the only way for me to keep warm. They were really nice too. The snow was that grippy/styrofoam stuff which is great for the bumps. I was heating myself in the car by 10:45. Thankfully nobody knocked out my window to steal anything. ColoradoHigh Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 Chippy did they have a telemark demo??? If you become a telemark skier..you need to grow a beard.. Yeah, they did. You know that ski instructor Jake? He is a telemarker and has a beast beard. Quote
