RidgeRacer Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Is it worth the extra hour and a half drive to Hunter for a day trip sometime next week. I know Elk but I've never been to Hunter. Your thoughts? Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 are you going on a weekend or a weekday? Quote

Your thoughts? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's going to be this Wednesday. But after Mapquesting I think I'll just stick to Elk. I don't know that another 2 hrs each way is worth the 600 extra feet of vertical. I'll probably have everything to myself. Quote
Schif Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 I'm probobly going to be up at elk on thursday. I love it up there on weekdays when you have the place to yourself. Quote

I went there in the very early season, and was amazed at how tall the mountain felt. 600 feet is pretty significant in terms of vertical. Though, I hear Elk is supposed to be a WONDERFUL mountain. Out of convenience and word of mouth I would stick to Elk. Quote
trtaylor Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 I'm also planing to be at Elk on Thursday. Look for a red jacket, black Giro Nine helmet and a guy skiing on a pair of Head i. C160's. That'd be me. Tim I'm probobly going to be up at elk on thursday. I love it up there on weekdays when you have the place to yourself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quote
poconoceancity Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 HUNTER. Elk sucks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How can you say elk sucks? Quote
poconoceancity Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 So the park makes the mountain? Quote
Schif Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Elk is awesome. They have some of the best trails. Jumps are fun, but there is nothing that can beat a nice long diamond. Quote

Glenn Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 agreed, places like elk can always add more jumps, places like bear can never add more vert... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats a little bit of a cop out. You don't judge a mountain on what it could be you judge it on what it is. Elk sounds more like my kind of mountain, but I must say, I had a lot more fun at bear than I expected. Quote

Glenn Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 dthmtluncrn, you don't spend much time in the park? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most of my time is spent on blacks. I take park runs, bucause I like to be well rounded, and lots of air is fun to me. I've dabbled in jibbing as well. All in all though, if I could live 2 min from montage or 2 min from bear, I would have to pick being 2 min from montage. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 HUNTER. Elk sucks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay April 1st is next week. Quote
Schif Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 I actually might be up at elk on thursday, its either that or cb. It depends if my friend can get me free tickets to elk. Quote
