phillycore Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Today was their last day believe it or not, they outlasted most of the mountains in PA. Shawnee is a fun place to ski when you need a change of scenery....I just didn't get there this year, but it was on my list... Quote
rgrwilco Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 shawnee usually tries to open early too. the start making snow as soon as they realistically can. Quote
NazarethSkier Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 I have skied shawnee several times. On friday nights it's a zoo...Ski Club's love Shawnee! I have fond memories of Shawnee place and as a small child I thought it was as cool as Disney World. Quote
DiMe Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Shawnee has an interesting crowd of people mostly weekend warriors from the city that constantly visit shawnee and some locals from the bushkill/marshalls creek area. I learned how to snowboard there in the late 90's & held a pass for two seasons. I remember visiting Camelback for the first time after having learned at Shawnee as as a young buck I thought Camelback was a real giant mountain one of the best on the east coast lol! Quote
First Grade Teacher Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) I would rather stay home than ride either. Rank them up there with Bear Creek. Boring! Edited March 31, 2009 by First Grade Teacher Quote
trackbiker Posted April 1, 2009 Report Posted April 1, 2009 The only good thing about Shawnee is that it catches a lot of the once-a-year gapers from NY/NJ coming across I80 before they get to the rest of PA because it's closest to the border. But seriously, I skied there a few years ago to check it out. It's really flat on the top and the trail map is distorted. The bottom steeps are really short and I didn't see any bumps. The 4 or 5 center trails are essentially all the same. The terrain park looked OK but I'm not a park person, so I wouldn't be a good judge of that. The lodge seemed OK and kind of rustic but you have to walk across a long bridge across a lake to get to it from the parking lot. Might be worth a night session to check it out if you've never been, but most people on PASR would be bored pretty quickly. JMHO. Quote
poop Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 hahah jesus fuck shawnee. such a shit hole to be honest and NOT worth the price . plus all the locals are fucking weirdo's don't lie you know you are Quote
RootDKJ Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 I learned how to ski at Shawnee. Great memories of skiing there with my dad and brother. You gotta go there on a weekday because the lift lines can get pretty painful on a weekend. While small, the place does have character. Quote
stever2003 Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 I learned to ski at Shawnee. Was there about 2 or 3 times when i was 10-11 Quote
RootDKJ Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 bump for stoke!!!! PASR day at Shamnee? I never skied there,,, Wednesdays are $23 on Liftopia, Thurs & Fri, $34. Ever do any mid-week PASR days? Quote
phillycore Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I'd be down for a mid-week pasr day at shawnee if we can get some peeps there Quote
DiMe Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I'd go to shawnee midweek for a PASR day. Quote
rgrwilco Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 . plus all the locals are fucking weirdo's don't lie you know you are truth. i like shawnee, i always find their parks to be really fun, although really strange. the snow always feels weird too. not bad, just different. the lifts are ungodly slow though. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Never skied Shawnee. Back in the early days of PASR, Shawnee used to be the place that opened first But I'd like to get there at some point just to say I skied there. Quote
NazarethSkier Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 Shawnee is very lonely on PASR. Thought I would stop in and say hello. Quote
phillycore Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 New High Speed Lift this season... Tomahawk Quote
NazarethSkier Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Posted October 28, 2010 New High Speed Lift this season... Tomahawk I just checked their site to see if there was an update on the new lift. HSQ gets you up to the summit in 3 minutes The lift serves 20 of 23 trails. Nice job Shawnee! Quote
Shadows Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 i remember thinking a few years ago the park scene was pretty legit. wonder why Quote
