RidgeRacer Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Just in case you were planning to head up there today. I guess this means they're closed today. Quote
TT C6 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Not to knock Camelback, but WTF !!!!! No word of closing at 7:30 last night. They are claiming they made the decision to close 20min before opening due to "drizzle". I'm gonna bite my tongue until I get the real story. Quote
TT C6 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 A big THANK YOU to PA Ridge Racer !!!!! This is the most helpful thread I have ever read. The real story is it's raining and if they were operating today they would lose money..Yesterday was a decent amount of people due to the nice weather. It's a business..and I can't hate on them because I just got to ski there for free..bonus skiing!!! If this was in January it would be different.. True. But, I already got a group of cars of paying customers (no passes) up there this morning. There was no notice last night or EARLY this morning. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted March 29, 2009 Author Report Posted March 29, 2009 Big Boulder instead? I'm thinking about it. They have Drauf, Mittl and Snowdrift open. Quote
TT C6 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Big Boulder instead? I've convinced dozens of people to try out Big Boulder over other PA mountains this season. I've even driven them most of them there. I'm not doing it anymore. Quote

TT C6 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Do you have curbside pickup? I would be willing to try big boulder... Funny you said that. I've been taking a lot of people that live in center city that don't drive. So, Yup. I guess I do curbside pickup. Quote
bigdaddyk Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) I called before I left the house and the message said that they were open. I called on my way and tried to get an operator at 8 am and nobdoy answered. I finally got somebody to answer around 8:15 . The radar didn't look bad, so I figured that they would be open. I was more than half way there, so I went to McDonald's at Lake Harmony, took a nap, drove around, and basically killed 1.5 hours until I went to BB. Foggy as hell at BB and kind of icy, with mist. On my way to CB, it was clearing up until I got around the 80/ 81 junction, then it got shitty again. Edited March 29, 2009 by bigdaddyk Quote
DiMe Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Partly cloudy with a slight chance of thunderstorms. High 52F. Winds ENE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 30%. We all knew they werent gonna open today, it's Camelback they're afraid of rain and dread lightning oh well at least theres still options. Quote
