poconoceancity Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Camelback has annouced plans to stay open until Saturday, March 26th. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WOW..the day before Easter...Will any mountain stay open past BC's 27th closing date? Quote
ThinkSnow Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Wow, the 26th is still pretty late for the area... hopefully someone stays open into april. Quote
AtomicSkier Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 I think Elk will, and the earliest blue will close is the 27th. I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed open until the 3rd.. Quote
poconoceancity Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Can anyone recall a year when any mountain in the poconos stayed open into april? Quote
Margaritaville Skier Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Long, long time ago, Camelback stayed open into early April a few times. They tried to make it a destination for spring breakers instead of heading to Fla. Yeah, like that was gonna happen. Unreliable snow conditions back then doomed that idea, however, it did result in the famous bikini photo shoot. Check out the book "The ups and downs of a Banana Belt Ski Area" for that bit of info. mtnbiker99x Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I was hoping that one of the mountains would try for april 3rd, even if it was just weekends. It seems that it will be cold enough long enough to do that. The only thing the closings will do is force me up north to Hunter, Killington, Mount Snow or something. (not like that is a bad thing) Quote

Anyway there is still a while before places down here close down... Quote
poconoceancity Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Somewhere between 10 and 15 years ago I think CB reopened after a 20 inch storm the first week of april. Ski999 would probably remember. Quote
zaldon Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 well i hope that cb stays open for a while because i dont think ill be going north any time soon Quote
mtnbiker99x Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 It would be nice to stay open longer, maybe they can shut down night skiing and just do days Friday through Sunday, when they get the most business. From the weather forecast the snow is not going away anytime soon, so hopefully they could at least do weekends until its gone. Quote

Ski Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 Hmmmm...I think Carter was just sworn in about the first time I had my ticket revoked by ski patrol at CB. To be honest, I just don't really remember much about how late they were open, or when they reopened. My early years at CB were a mixture of Pink Floyd, pot, caffeine pills, and girls in tight ski pants. I was at Mount Tom and Mt. Snow through most of the 80's. That was a mixture of Front 242, vodka, aspirin, and girls in tight ski pants. Quote
Stevo Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 The 1992-93 season at Blue mountain ended on April 5th, the 1993-94 season ended on April 10th, and since then they have closed in March every year. Hey doug, this reminds me- what about the old trail maps you said you have? Come on, we're all dying to see them. ( i am anyway) Quote
skidude Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Hey doug, this reminds me...Didn't you say something about not digging up extremly old threads Quote
Schif Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Bad choice on threads doug, i thought this was a fresh thread and they already announced one for this year. Quote
poconoceancity Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I thought ski999 was back, it brought a tear to my eye. This place is not the same without him. Quote
skidude Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Same here... And I switched the title... Quote
