trackbiker Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Anyone have any news on a projected opening date? The website doesn't have any real information but they are selling passes. I'm hoping that after not opening last year that they get an early start this year. I'd definetly hit it at least once this year. Quote

Papasteeze Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Anyone have any news on a projected opening date? I project that they will open late. Hope that helps! Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Id put money on not opening at all. Quote
trackbiker Posted May 19, 2009 Author Report Posted May 19, 2009 Anyone been up to see how far along the construction is? Anything in the local paper? We're coming up on Memorial Day weekend, the traditional time for opening these type of places. Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 They have some slides up, no concrete set anywere, and a lot of dirt work still going on. I called and they said late June is when they want to open. But, im still going with, they wont open this year. Quote
ski14 Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 went up yesterday, from the lazy river over place looks awesome, real nice stamped concrete all over and lounge chairs out, but wave pool, kiddie structure, and tornado slide stil have some work... they were just starting on the steel that will form the tornado slide... id guess a late june opening sounds right Quote
rgrwilco Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 tornado slides are money. hopefully they can move along quickly. water parks in summer=more capital=better winter product Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 They are still planning on opening for the summer? If this place goes under, the next buyer is going to buy a stacked ski area lol... I still want to get up there, since I havent been there since my first day on skis ever, but I was holding out for a high speed quad...Is there really a demand for a waterpark with camelbeach so close? Maybe it makes sense financially since the only added cost is some labor and running the waterpumps? Other than that, they use basically the same equipment right? Quote
skier89 Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 the only way they can use the water pupms is to fill the pools and what not all the rides need filters for chemicals, backwashing and pritty much things to go with a pool all the rides also need return and supply line also to the filter pumps so they can use the snowpumps but cant Quote

Santa Clauss Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I was going to say something stupid but decided not to... Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 Can I get an update, or do we not do those for failure? Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 How difficult is it to call 969-7669 Quote
ski14 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 the tornado slide looks good form the website Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 How much funding do they have? Looking at the website, the waterpark still isnt open, and I dont want their disastrous attempt to date on the waterpark to destroy the efforts they are making at the ski area... Can they really continue spend on capital expenditures in the summer without any return on those expenditures? Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Yeah, because their website has always been really accurate... Quote
be85 Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 We are going to scranton for the 4th of july weekend. i think I'll take the kids up to the mini putt putt and take a look around. in winter its called a trail report, What do you call a summer report?? Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Aren't most of their dry attractions already open? They need to get the waterpark open for July 4th... Thats a huge weekend... It could be different up there, but down here in OC MD its the biggest of the year... Quote
trackbiker Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 Do people travel to Scranton for the 4th of July???? Has anybody called to see when they're opening??? From the website: "Spring is here and Sn Quote
snoskier Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I'm hearing rumors that they're opening this weekend.. Per the website they will be open on the 18th. Looks like they will actually open this time. Quote
Santa Clauss Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Anyone go up yet? I got a press release email stating that they were opening on the 18th but they said the wave pool and the tornado weren't open yet, when my family comes in from cali I'll most likely bring them up, should be 50+ people... Sn Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Honestly, as much as I like ski areas, and understand that waterparks allow more year round opportunities, thus allowing for more expansion (summer or winter), it will be tough to supplant and/or steal patrons from Camelbeach... I just don't see an expanding market for that, but I could be wrong... While this does give the company increased revenue, we will most likely see money being poured into the waterpark in the near future (ie camelback) instead of expanding or modernizing the ski area other than improvements to snowmaking... I could be wrong, and they could have enough money to simultaneously expand both aspects, but I doubt it... I wish them luck because I hate to lose ski areas, but I am tired of the money money money mindset... Oh well, I guess we just have to live with it... Quote
Santa Clauss Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Well, I went up today to check it out... there were between 15-20 lifeguards sitting around with no customers what so ever, I can honestly say I've seen no more than 5 possible customers the whole 15 min I was there, and they were up at the batting cages, It appears that the path to the lift that supports the zip line was closed, the wave pool still has no concrete base, I asked the lady at the entrance for when they expected the wave pool and tornado to be open and she said by august... okay maybe august 2010. Heres some pictures, I'll let you be the judge. I don't think these trees will make it through the winter... I really feel bad, they've done a ton of work since march and I hope they get some good business, but they missed the biggest couple holiday weekends of the season, I also feel bad for all those lifeguards who will be getting screwed on hours. plus its expected to rain for the next week and then some...
