Johnny Style Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I know that nobody here cares that much about ski racing but one of the sport's legends is retiring. Even if you are just a casual observer you have no doubt heard about the "Herminator." I'm not here to recap his career but he was one of my favorites and will be missed. I hoped that he would compete in the 2010 olympics. You may remember his crash in the 1998 Nagano Olympics as it was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Oh well, at least I got to enjoy watching him win four overall World Cup titles and 54 victories. Quote
sibhusky Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Well, I care, but I think it's about time. For that matter, I think it's time for Bode to give up. Unless, of course, he actually accomplishes something this season. Quote
mbike-ski Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 he's a great story, i know a lot people thought he was done last year when he made the move to head. hopefully we'll see him doing commentary during the olympics, yah. go bode! Quote
Brian Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) Personally imo... besides crashes and perhaps an untarnished god-like legacy, there really isn't any negative to an individual athlete competing past his or her prime. It's not like they're using up a roster spot, or preventing a team from bettering themselves, right? Edited October 13, 2009 by Brian Quote
First Grade Teacher Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Well, I care, but I think it's about time. For that matter, I think it's time for Bode to give up. Unless, of course, he actually accomplishes something this season. Not sure if you knew, but Bode is back on the US Ski Team and competing in the Olympics. Quote
