toast21602
so me and Justo took a little trip up to Blue to see what was going on since the season is getting closer. quite a few changes and the place looks great. i'm ready for a great year up there. view of Blue from the base. say goodbye to the half pipe. gonna be filled in and turned into another park. love it. we explored some of the mountain bike trails that they put in. they are freakin' awesome. because of this, and multiple other trails, i'm looking to buy a mountain bike. view of the base from Falls (which looks incredibly steep with no snow on it) Nightmare is almost ready to go. snowguns in, light poles up. just waiting for lights and snow. looks like it will be a nice addition to the rest of Blue. snow! we then decided to take the Blue Mountain Shuttle around the mountain to check out sidewinder and some other mountain bike trails. if you were thinking of hitting the old C box next year, think again. this is how its supported. haha. we also walked to the top to check out the new rails that our ParkCrue friends were creating. so far so good. down rails, down flat down rail, down box. double C, and a couple C boxes which we are told, will make up multiple stair sets in the new park. aaaaand thats about it for now. hopefully we will be skiing somewhere here in PA within the next month because i'm ready. jhartley
I was gonna say something negative about the irrational love of stairsets...but ya know what? It all looks OK...we're moving towards a reasonably designed park here. Thanks for the pics. Hope it snows enough that those mtn bike trails are poachable.

jhartley
Why isn't Blue reppin the shit out of the fact that the park is featured hard in Meathead's Wild Stallions? It's not like they just pass thru, it's a significant and damn good segment.

TT C6
because everyone knows that the park's on a turny run and sucks, sheesh You ever scene a national park competition on a course that is as windy as Sidewinder ???? Nope. I noticed you didn't comment on the other part of my post. At least everyone can be honest with themselves that Blue does NOT maintain their parks. I would love to see Blue build the parks on a different trail and step up maintaining their parks. If so, I'd be open minded to buying a season pass at Blue.
method9455
Not to beat a dead horse, but it will be impossible to keep that trail maintained unless they have park passes. They did a decent job last year. I've seen far worse. I agree that Sidewinder was too windy like 2-3 years ago before they widened it, but now there are only really 2 sharp turns. The one at the end of the jump line that has the wall ride is too sharp and then you bang another right after it, kinda bad in my opinion. But I grew up at Mountain Creek when the park was on North and it was convoluted with multiple intersections and it had great flow, and even now on South it is has a lot of turns and intersections and its fine. Other than the wall ride corner they are all manageable.

If so, I'd be open minded to buying a season pass at Blue. no, i've never 'scene' a national park competition. do they compare who's got the coolest wildlife and best rock formations? honestly, did you ride blue last year? aside from the inevitable ice and bombholes after rails on warmer days (you don't hit rails anyway, right?), they did a pretty good job of maintaining the parks. i think they did just as good a job as boulder, and easily as good a job as bear creek compared to the times i was at either of those two places. i don't understand what your gripe with the not-straight trails is. the first section is a nice option of rail lines. the flow ends there. the next section is the jumpline, ending with a wallride. again, logical place for the flow to end. the next section is a couple rails/boxes/random jibby things, which doesn't really have any flow because they're just scattered everywhere anyway. i would think this would actually suit you well, since you don't hit rails and there's less of a chance of a chance of you snaking someone since there's a logical start point for the jump line instead of having to just cut in to a jumpline after a rail or two (boulder park with the handrail up top or either of bear creek's parks). no?
TT C6
I still think the jumps are too close together and the turn before the last jump was stupid. If they just built a good jump line on a straight trail this year with some space between them, and maintained the landings, I would do Blue this season. In answer to your questions: Yes, I ride Blue every year and have "seen" for myself. Yes, I prefer jumps to rails. But, I'm doing them more because my friends do. You know I was referring to a pro comp, the rock/wildlife comment was weak. Hmmm, same 2 negative votes on my last post in the thread. Give it up. Give it up. this year they have a winch cat, and we have been told that it will be used to make steeper landings, which will result in making them easier to maintain and less bomb holes.
