Crayfish Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Check it out! The new glade looks like it will be great! Pics Here Quote
jordan Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 You'd need to have a deathwish to ski that...oh my.. the chances of there ever being enough natural snow to ski that on a given year is virtually nonexistent. The only year I can remember that any of those trees were skiable was 02/03. There is also a "sweet" 20-25 footer to flat further back in those trees Quote
Glenn Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Oh, I'm sure someone will find a way. Quote
phillycore Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 We'll find a way.... hee hee They can get enough snow in there from the blow over to cover it... Quote
RidgeRacer Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 (edited) We'll find a way.... hee hee They can get enough snow in there from the blow over to cover it... The blow over from rivershot covers the Elevator pretty quickly. The glade part of it may need a nice storm. I believe the guns on Floyd's face skiers right towards Risk It so blowing on Floyd's may not help the glade unless there's a atrong wind blowing the other way. Still...very cool to know that not only did they completely clear the old elevator, they cleared out the trees adjacent to it as well...definitely stoked. RidgeRacer Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Oh and I love the Blog entry on the home page... "10.23.09 The Elevator is all cleaned up and ready for the snow! No more sticker bushes to tear up our coats and pants! The JF mountain crew went above and beyond and cleared out a glade on the skier's right of the Elevator! I don't know about you guys, but I can't wait to ride on East Mtn this winter..." Quote

toast21602 Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 i'm sorry Nick, i was out of town until today and was unaware of the banning. please disregard my stab at TTC6, as i was not up to date on his situation. for that, i will give the negative rep you were going to give me, right back to you. Tjs8807 Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Due to my curiosity on how the new glade clearance looked, i decided to go on a little hike. And this is what i found... A BEAST OF A TRAIL! This is inside the Heart of the Elevator Glade. This Glade is going to be HEAVY! Its Steep, its got Cliffs, and not to mention Trees! If this trail were to be marked, im pretty sure it would be a Double Black... i cant wait to hit up this glade! You might just want to re-evaluate not wearing a helmet on this one... 3 Quote

Yep.... gnarly ain't it Just hope we can get enough cover on it to bring it to good use... FWIW it shouldn't be marked, that would be bad.... real bad.... if you are good enough to ski it, you'll find it without any markings. It's pretty obvious that it's there.....especially now. It's definitely a ski at your own risk deal. LOVE IT!! JFBB made us all proud on this one. Quote
jordan Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 if JF put guns in those woods, that would be the most badass run south of Vermont. However, it would need to snow in excess of 100" for that to ever be skiable without snowmaking methinks, which is like a once a decade or less winter for the poconos. Quote

Tjs8807 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Haha, yea... i was a man on a mission. It payed off tho, in health and stoke! As for snow coverage. I really think that with blow over from the Risk It Guns, Elevator might see some coverage from the man made snow. Those guns on Risk it face Elevator. Now for the elevator glade to be ski-able. Im thinking were gonna need about a 12 inch's of hard pack base, then some fresh snowfall around 6 inch's and it should be good to go for the die-hards. FYI- Guns were added to where the Exhibition Moguls Were. Quote
