C1erArt Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 Floyds is the slope of the morning. Firm and fast but with some powder on top for control 1 Quote
C1erArt Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 Elevator crusty but not glare ice. Picture of hero route from top I took the easier route about a third way down the rivershot head wall. Sorry bout the typos in the first post, didn't have my reading glasses on on the chairlift. 1 Quote
C1erArt Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 Nice pictures..there's a chance I'm gonna hit JF this weekend and am looking forward to trying out the Elevator..how were crowds today??? Lodge was crowded but not packed at lunchtime (I usually look for tables with backpacks on them but no coats) - deserted at 8 am. The blues were a little crowded, t-bolt and challenge were not at all crowded, challenge glade was empty but skiable. East mountain had some good skiers on it (saw a couple people try elevator glade), the rentals would take one run and head back to the west side - although I left at 11, and the rentals tend to come over in the afternoon. Floyds was getting a little scraped off in the center, but the sides were nice (right side especially), as was right side of river shot. The runout of the chicken route (my route on the left) of elevator was a little cruddy if you built up too much speed - I found that swinging to the right at the bottom (uphill) was nicer to be able to stop, then head out of the little dell over the bumps and ruts. Nice day all around. Did my edges last night until they passed the fingernail test. Demo day tomorrow I think. Quote
JFskiDan Posted December 28, 2009 Report Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) the rentals would take one run and head back to the west side - although I left at 11, and the rentals tend to come over in the afternoon. thats the truth right there. i saw plenty of carnage on east mountain today....comparable to WMMR day. C1er - i really appreciate the early morning TR....i was a bit lazy getting out today. i made it there about 10 or so...stayed until just after 2 pm. east mountain lift was moving along nicely even though the crowds were definetly there. C1er made the good points for the day, snow on the edges of floyds, river shot was nice on skiers right, but the last headwall was just completly skied off down to ice. lots of skis going to the bottom without people attached to them. trees are ok, ski-able, staying closer to the trail was better than going in deeper, since they did put down some man-made last night. i made 1 run at the elevator from the glade....theres just a little powder on top of hard crusty stuff...the base isnt really a solid sheet of ice, but it does make for some fast skiing. jahhdip Edited December 28, 2009 by smartass 1 Quote
C1erArt Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 Fooling around with the iPhone AutoStitch app. Elevator panorama. The River Shot trail is at the top of the picture running left to right. Elevator glade on left. 1 Quote

AtomicSkier Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 I'm thinking I'll be there Sunday. I think that works better for ThinkSnow as well Quote
