AtomicSkier Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Blue has a real nice teaching hill with a carpet and a tripple lift that is seperated from the rest of the crowds. Quote
crazex Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Jack Frost is also a good learning mountain. Since all of the beginner terrain is pretty well separated from everything, and only goes halfway down the hill. They do have a learning area with a magic carpet that is completely separate as well. burton71 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Really depends on when you plan on going. Both have decent teaching areas, instructors, etc... I'd stay far away from Blue on weekends. Quote
Schif Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 purely teaching? I might recommend something like Shawnee. Small, cheap and not crowded Quote
phillycore Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Sorry...but I'm leaning towards Spring Mountain on this one Quote
mbike-ski Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 who's teaching them? all the above have good kids programs - don't think it matters much. i definately suggest a lesson preferably on a weekday - more attetion and they have great techniques for kids to learn. been through it 3 times, after the lesson you can have some fun... poconoceancity Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Eagle Rock or Alpine MT. if it's a weekend. I would never take my kids to Blue or CB when they are 3 or 4. When they are 5 and have 30 days on the hill I will take them to JFBB. Quote
Timeless Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 If you can get to Blue in the week I would go there. It was a few years ago now but they did a great job with my 4 year old with morning lessons mid-week. Quote

sexkitten Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Whatever Mt is closer and/ or cheaper. That way if the kid hates it and wants to bail you don't have that far to drive home or too much cash lost. Quote
phillycore Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 winner winner chicken dinner..most kids that age aren't gonna last very long.. And you know this how??? My experience... Both of my kids absolutely loved it and wanted to stay as long as possible... Sure they got cold and wanted lunch and to go to the bathroom and all that, but... they sure as hell didn't want to leave. On the other hand, if the child hates it they would want to leave...who wouldn't?? Give the kid the best chance at enjoying it by going on a midweek day or slower weekend day so there isn't a zillion people around and more importantly on a day where the temperature isn't absolutely freezing. The most important thing in teaching anyone something new is patience. Quote
sexkitten Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 From my experience as a nanny kids tend to want to leave, pee, cry, etc. when it's most inconvenient. If they like skiing and want to stay all day great but if not at least there is less hassle for Mom and Dad. Try Bear Creek. They sell 4 hour passes, have a pretty mild terrain and are closer than the Pocs for a lot of people. JMO. Quote
poconoceancity Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 The first time my 3 year old lasted about an hour. If you want them to like it you can't keep them out there when they lose interest. Now at 4 we have spent 2 hours in the pouring rain and she loves it. Quote
librider Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Honestly bring them to the cheapest place possible. Quote
