DiMe Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) Just got back from a short session at the Camel. It felt like a warm December blue bird day at the mountain and the conditions somewhat reflected it. First impression when strapping in was the snow is super fast compared to yesterday it turned into sugar again instead of spring corn. Took a run down King Tut and it was nice sugary softness most of the way down with some frozen cord on the side. Headed over to Birches next and it was the same accept today the snow was not dirty and fast enough to easy skate across the flat. Next run was down Big Pocono which was solid cord at the top followed by Rocket which was scary rock solid boilerplate with very light cord tracks, def not ideal steep conditions without razor sharp edges. Everything was soft once off the steeper vertical, I spent the rest of my time lapping Tut and Birches. It's going to be the coldest it will be for the rest of the season tonight I believe so things are going to be ROCK solid tomorrow morning. It's been said already but if you plan to go to Camelback early tomorrow you better sharpen your edges. Fortunately the high for tomorrow is about 5 degrees warmer then today so hopefully around the afternoon the steeps will start to soften up. Edited March 26, 2010 by DiMeThIcOnE Quote

DiMe Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) i plan on pulling in around 9:30am I will be there for the 10am meet time but I am almost certain at that time rocket, asp and marjies might still be rock solid. Either way, it will be a fun day everyone will just have to stay longer while things soften up Good reason to watch the competition to. If whoever has the radar gun is coming you should bust it out on marjies or rocket in the morning you might hit a new record Edited March 26, 2010 by DiMeThIcOnE Quote

phillycore Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 I can't sharpen my edges for shit (basically I've tried before and couldn't figure it out so I just don't do it) and none of me skis have anything even close to a sharp edge on them anymore.. I can't ski for shit anyway so it probably won't matter much for me... haha Quote

DiMe Posted March 27, 2010 Author Report Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) Apparently after closing weekend at Blue, I'm also p-texing some nice grooves. Whats your method for melting ptex candles? I tried melting and dripping it into spots to repair but it didn't work so hot with my bic lighter or a normal candle lol. I found what worked best for my repair was running my flat iron super hot and just pressing the candle into the grooves and core shots. Edited March 27, 2010 by DiMeThIcOnE Quote

I tried melting and dripping it into spots to repair but it didn't work so hot with my bic lighter or a normal candle lol. I found what worked best for my repair was running my flat iron super hot and just pressing the candle into the grooves and core shots. I hold a lighter under the candle until it's actually on fire. I then let it drip into the area I'm trying to repair. If you let the drop hit the floor, it should make a hissing noise (like lighting a hefty bag on fire...don't ask). Anyway, once that cools down, I scrape it off with a metal scraper, then use an 400 grit sandpaper on the spot to smooth it all in. Quote
