Been on our to do list since it opened, finally got the chance to go down. We left friday late morning and with traffic got down to lynchburg, virginia around 5. The snowflex is on its summer hours so it runs 6 pm-midnight all week. We were the first ones in line for the day and bought a 2 hour lift ticket. We rode friday for almost 3 hours and had a blast.

Found a cheap place to stay for the night and then found some things to do to kill time before it opened again on saturday. It was empty saturday less than 25 people on the slope at all times. Saturday we started to feel alot better on the surface and really had a great time.

Its amazing how realistic the snowflex feels. It takes a little getting used to as you seem to slide a little more while trying to hold an edge but its really fun and is surprisingly fast. The 150 foot vert slope sits on top of a mountain where it overlooks the Liberty University campus and the Blue ridge mountains. It has a t bar to take you to the top. It is loaded with park features but there is plenty of space to ski around them and we had no trouble with getting cut off or anyone interfering. The lodge and all the facilities are brand new and immaculate. It is a beautiful area especially when the sun sets over the surrounding mountains. Its a cheap trip with lift tickets at $7/an hour for peak times and $5 non peak (mon-thurs). With gas/some food/cheap hotel we did it all for under $100 so its definetly one you guys should hop on if you get the chance. Nothing beats the feeling of snowboarding in the summer and you cant come any closer than this for the money/ convienence. Staff is super friendly and ready to help.

For those of you who are wondering, park setup went something like:

Small Butter box/ c-box

Down rail/ Corrugated tube

Mellow DFD / Flat box/ Long Up Box / Battleship Box

Jump with 3 lips, 30ish ft, 15 ft, 5 ft

Quarter Pipe at the end

And some pictures, didnt take too many but managed to snap a few on the way out. Enjoy

Cool pix of the place, what's the surface like if you take a spill? rug burns? spongey?

its firm plastic bristles almost like a hair brush. They make you wear long sleeves/pants so you dont get brush burns but you can still get scraped up a little. Its padded underneath so the actual impact is extremely soft.

Looks pretty cool. I definitely want to get down there.

Hows the surface treat your board?

no damage at all, cleaned the base if anything

doug i'd say maybe slightly more snowboarders but no real difference. also you'd get pretty scraped up without long sleeves/pants

Wow, that looks awesome. And so cool of Liberty U to build that and make it free to their students. The Lodge looks awesome too... too bad it'll never have a bar or dancing! Maybe then GSS would go.
