Five Indoor Water Parks in the Poconos!!??

Several weeks ago I read a newpaper piece stating that there would soon be FIVE indoor water parks in the Poconos!!

Split Rock, Great Wolf, Camelback (still in need of final permit according to article), one proposed at the former Summit resort (Tannersville exit) and one proposed for Birchwood resort (north of 611?). In addition to how crowded this is going to make things, I wonder about the availability of water. Yes, I know these parks are supposed to be "closed systems", but they can't be 100% closed and the total activities of each park will increase water usage. This seems destined to create quite an impact, especially in light of the fact that in several drought years, the ski resorts were restricted by the state in their ability to make snow, even though this water would be "returned" when it melted in the spring.

Camelbeach uses their snow making water which pulls from Pocono Creek when the main ponds get low.

Pocono Township police are investigating a case of a peeping Tom in the employee bathroom at Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark in Tannersville, according to a spokesman for the theme park.

Jerry Lawlor, spokesman for Camelbeach, said a video recording device was found Saturday afternoon in the employee bathroom. Once park officials confirmed what it was, police were called and began an investigation, he said.

Police did not find any other recording devices in the resort, Lawlor said. Pocono Township police are continuing an investigation. They did not return calls for comment.

Lawlor said he could not say much more about the incident because of the ongoing investigation. Asked to describe the recording device, he would only say, "It was not the type of camera you would buy at Best Buy."
