RidgeRacer Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 I know. It's the same story every year. The magazines never seem to agree with us but regardless the resort rankings are here (skiing magazine's anyway) which normally means that ski season is right around the corner. Anyway agree or disagree it's a pretty good read... http://www.skinet.com/skiing/resorts/2009/09/resort-awards-2010 Best Overall: Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia Best Backcountry Access: Jackson Hole, Wyoming Best in the East: Stowe, Vermont Best Steeps: Jackson Hole, Wyoming Best Snow: Alta/Snowbird, Utah Best Trees: Steamboat, Colorado Best Park: Breckenridge, Colorado Best NIghtlife: Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia East... 1. Stowe, VT 2. Killington, VT 3. Jay Peak, VT 4. Sugarloaf, ME 5. Mont Tremblant, QC 6. Mad River Glen, VT 7. Sunday River, ME 8. Snowshoe, WV 9. Stratton, VT 10. Whiteface Mountain, NY Quote

Dan- Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 LOL...didn't Seven Springs make the east coast ranking last year? JH representing, though I don't see Asssspen on that list Quote
AtomicSkier Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I don't see Asssspen on that list Good...keep people away Quote
Dan- Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Good...keep people away I'll gladly stay away. Quote
Nidecker Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 cant belive iceface made the list... granted it was #10... but still Quote
Erin808 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Good...keep people away I don't think Aspen is hurting for people. It's just not a crowd that would rely on the Skiing Mag ranking to determine where to go. Quote
Justo8484 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I don't think Aspen is hurting for people. It's just not a crowd that would rely on the Skiing Mag ranking to determine where to go. more the SKI mag demographic Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 More like its for good reading and discussion, but I frankly don't give a shit what a bunch of editors say... However, I still find it interesting that Snowshoe has been consistently making this list... Quote
Dan- Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I think Snowshoe consistently makes the list due to a High number of skier visits, high average snowfall and alot of resort amenities. I'm surprised Sugarbush isn't in the top ten in the east. I think it's wrong to hate on Aspen if you've never been there. I've never been there mainly due to logistics. Whats so hard about the logistics of aspen. You have to get on two planes, the same thing you have to do to get to Jackson. Quote
Dan- Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 inside joke Now if only Aspen had a casino. Quote
NazarethSkier Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Wow...Aspen sure is getting it's share of love in this thread. Quote
NazarethSkier Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 somebody once told me Aspen was magical. Somebody once told me... life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get Quote

Sorry but whiteface easily belongs in that list and higher than 10. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted September 27, 2010 Author Report Posted September 27, 2010 Isn't that last season's list? It's got 2009 in the URL. The article is titled "Resort Awards 2010" Quote
sibhusky Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) Well, if you go to the SKI magazine link, you'll see the comments are from 2009. Also, if you go to Epic, you'll see a link from there to YOUR link. That link is from 2009. This year's reviews will be titled 2011. Edited September 27, 2010 by sibhusky 1 Quote
