JFskiDan Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 THURSDAY 10 AM VERMONT GROUND ZERO FOR CRUSHING SNOWSTORM. My take on this is 1-2 FEET of snow for elevations above 1500 feet in Vermont and with the foliage still on trees this will be ground zero for what will be a heavy wet snow in the high ground into Massachusetts and as for southwest as the northeast Catskills. The Big Dog will review i dont know anything more about this, but it certainly caught my eye. Quote
OutCold Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Where are you reading this? I can't seem to find any similar reports on any of the major weather sites. Quote
NazarethSkier Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Forecast for the next several days has VT staying cool like coors light. Wow ski season is almost here and PASR will be humming with new trip reports. Cheers to a successful 10/11 ski season. Quote

Schif Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 According to the weather channel right now, there is 4 inches at the base and 9 at the summit at Killington Quote
JFskiDan Posted October 15, 2010 Author Report Posted October 15, 2010 snowing at whiteface as well. http://www.whiteface.com/mountain/cams.php Quote
Freeski919 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 I'm here in Burlington, and it's pouring rain right now. Like monsoon heavy rain. But I'm heading up to Stowe tomorrow for their hiring event. Someone from Stowe emailed me today advising me not to use the Mountain Road to get to Stowe, as it's been snowing all day up on Mansfield, and the Mountain Road is probably closed for the winter now. Epic! Jay is expecting more than a foot, they closed their golf course for the season today. Quote
OutCold Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Killington blew some snow this morning on top of the natural they got. Won't be long now! Quote
toast21602 Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 after a little warmup the real cold air moves in after this weekend..I'm still planning on the first weekend in November.. it's a good possibility. the other morning when i rode in to work at 2am it was 39 degrees out. i can't wait to get out on the snow. romemadman Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 got some turns in at jay on sat. the snow was down to the base in the morning and probably a foot at the top. had the biggest smile on my face on the way down. felt so good to be back on my board. Quote

I don't understand why KMart would be blowing on top of what fell already. The ground up here isn't anywhere close to being frozen yet, it's still pretty warm really. If they don't let the earth get exposed again and get a hard frost on it, they'll just insulate the unfrozen ground, and it'll bite them in the ass at the end of the season when their entire snowpack gets undermined. Meh... KMart never really makes any sense, so why even bother trying to figure them out? Quote

Freeski919 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Alright everyone, it's time to add to the stoke market... I was up at Stowe this past weekend... unfortunately couldn't get any turns in, I was there for their hiring clinic. But I did manage to snap a couple pics which I'm sure everybody will enjoy. Here's the Spruce Peak base area on Saturday: And here's Mansfield on Sunday. I wanted to get the whole mountain in the shot, because the entire summit is white... but the clouds rolled in before I could get a shot of it. Quote
DiMe Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) MMMM Mount Mansfield...... You gonna hook PASRs up with vouchers when we come up there Freeski? Edited October 19, 2010 by DiMeThIcOnE Quote
AtomicSkier Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 WOW! Are you serious? All mountains start blowing before the ground is frozen. Snow creates an impenetrable layer for 10 degree weather! Quote
