Looks like the storm has some silly name like Gayla or something. Does anyone actually remember their silly names for past snowstorms, like they do for hurricanes (e.g. Katrina)?

To me it's the blizzard of 2020.

Naming snow storms is just a marketing thing that the Weather Channel thought up. Next they'll be naming rain storms, fog, heat waves, cold spells, and earthquakes.

The first flakes have fallen, it is picking up rapidly, and the final accumulation guesses are in for storm totals for my backyard snowfall. Winner gets two (!!) 16oz beers from my fridge and courtesy of @Mixilplix, it appears he will also contribute some beers as well.

In between bread baking, diner making, shoveling, and some occasional work, I'll be checking in on storm totals.

Winner will be determined at the first post-storm measurement.

Chesco update. Probably creeping up on 2”. Light fluffy fairy dust snow. My dog (who’s never seen snow before and from South Carolina) loves it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure???

Gettin windy here.

Windy here too. Of my 3 test locations, it looks like the back deck is the most sheltered based on the direction of the wind. It seems like my measurements will be taken there.
