In early January of 1998 I went with my friend up to jay peak on a ski trip. Early in the trip it began to rain and after two days of skiing we went to Montreal which was in the middle of a giant ice storm. We stayed there two nights and luckily found lodging with power.  There was a solid 2-3” of ice..here are pictures I found from that ice storm. Vermont ended up receiving a lot of freezing rain as well and it ruined a lot of glades at Stowe and sugarbush due to all the fallen trees.

Damn that’s crazy you were there for that storm, I’ve read up on it over the years and it sounded crazy

So this little diddy that is moving through this evening and overnight looks to be mostly a misery maker more than anything else. Lots of freezing rain is anticipated, but luckily there will be a bit of a warm up tomorrow to hopefully melt some of it off of trees and roadways.

What I'm interested in is this next system that is coming through on Thursday. Looks to be trending cooler to start so it could be producing more snow than expected. Since I work Thursday morning, it will likely be a nice little whopper.

Didn’t you already post this??  Hopefully GSSucks or Atomic Jeff can give you a ride to work Thursday.

Nope.

Here comes the freezing rain aka ZR...I wish I had the ruler we use at work for raised letter jobs to measure the ice accumulation.  Could be 4/10” of freezing rain...time for the governor to declare a state of emergency.  Also please help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered..

Definitely did not get as much freezing rain and rain as projected last night which is good. The snow on the ground here as a nice coating of ice and it doesn't seem like much was lost. The system moving through on Thursday seems to be trending colder which is good so @saltyant won't be so sad if a piece of ice falls from the sky.

Keep your eyes on early next week too. Depending on temps and a buoy pop, there could be something there. I've heard snow breed snow...

That's good cuz I'd like to ski out of bounds all day Saturday again. It was a blast. But ice might make doing that not so nice.

Nothing but rain down here on my drive from KOP through MALVERN to Exton. More of a mist than anything. Mid 30s. No ice anywhere to be found.

You can always buy new skis. You cant ever get back those precious moments of skiing off piste at Blue Mountain.

Now I sound like JohnnyLaw
