no noaa?

I pretty much do what Smartass said. I use a bunch of them to formulate my own opinion on the weather. I like NOAA within 7 days, but I do find their forecasts to be quite optimistic at times.

I usually check the forecast, think about it, and then look outside to see what is actually happening. My observatory results so far have been 100% accurate.

Unfortunately, it's tough to plan ahead with your forecasting...

lies. You've definitely been drunk enough to misread the data falling from the sky before.

Looks like Sunday is the day when winter really gets started. Projected highs in VT in the upper 30s should mean snowmaking around the clock at elevation.

The cold temps have helped SR and Killington make some headway. Killington now has 3 routes off the NRT with skiing down to the base of the triple. Before today you had to use the Stairway to Heaven both directions. They have started to work their way towards the base, but there is a bunch of work left to do.

Sunday River is "t2b" but some walking is required. They have continued to blow Sunday Punch, but they are also concentrating on Aurora since the base temps there are lower than Sunday Punch and they can circumvent no t2b skiing. This would allow for uploading and downloading via the chondi.

Win just posted an update on SkiMRV saying that they needed another 24 hours to get Jester/Downspout to Heaven's Gate ready for the public. Some mountain ops folks skied it and said there are still some thin spots. If they get good production tonight, there might be a chance at this weekend with up/down loading, but Win made it sound more realistic that the day will be Thanksgiving. If that extra 4 days allows them to push to the base, I'll take that.

Isn't it supposed to rain at Smuggs on Wednesday and Thursday??? Moe Ghoul when are you heading to Vermont??

They are forecasting up to 3/4 an inch of rain. The high temp is 50 and then it will be dropping into Friday and Saturday night. With the snow still in piles and relatively less dense, the rain won't do that much damage.

I think Killington stands to lose the most on the Great Northern connector from the K-1 Gondi to the NRT. That part always melt out fast and has the thinnest base this time of year.

Years like this are often times when the northeast sees 300" seasons. The snow doesn't start until late Feb/March, but they can easily rack up 100" in a short time if atmospheric conditions permit. It also helps snowfall totals in that being "warmer" means wet snow which accumulates much faster due to flake size.
