We can always ship bottled water to California and they can have their produce imported if they can't farm....people are gonna have to stop watering their lawns. And yeah it really has been a 20+ year drought out there and that's an area of the country where the population continues to grow rapidly.

That makes sense. In 1900 there were less than 1.5 million people living in California. In 1950 the population was about 10 million and now there's almost 40 million inhabitants in California. With the huge population this current drought and future droughts will be bad for the golden state

Yeah its pretty troubling. When I go out in June I'll do an assessment and let you know what I think.

 

It looks as though the National Ski Resort Fishing Pond Commission (NSRFPC) has issued a statement regarding this:

 

"We are sad to report that because of the continued draught conditions in the state of California, we are suspending all fishing ponds at resorts until further notice. We are sorry for any inconvenience. For those who paid for season passes, you will not be refunded and those funds will now be used for water conservation. We hope to report good news sooner than later regarding the resumption of fishing activities. Until then, enjoy fishing in your local water source... if you have any left." - NSRFPC 3/17/2015

That quote was regarding California resorts. I've confirmed with Barb, and your koi guy, that Blue is still good to go starting on June 13th. Only operating on Sat/Sun.

That is not really a question though humans can answer relative to what we are all dancing around but actually talking about. California is stuck with the ridiculously resilient ridge, a high pressure ridge that has pretty much ground everything to a halt. The jet stream has a teeter totter like effect which sinks the JS in the east which allows cold air from the AO to surge down in troughs and hence our boner city.

 

Is it climate change ? Almost certainly Is that a problem ? Don't know.

 

Were fucking with basic shit, temp gradients that are the genesis of everything, rosby waves, AO/NAO/EPO, jet stream, etc etc etc.

Friday's storm could maybe drop some in the LV but models rely on 850mb line which is roughly 5000ft so they can predict falling snow but not if it accumulates.
