Who's got what? GoPro, Drift, Contour, Etc.

I recently started working for Drift Innovation so I've been doing a lot of R & D. I love their camera the best.

Before that I was providing content for this quality merchant. (Check out my review) https://www.mypov360...owboarding-pov/

So I have a Contour HD, GoPro Helmet Hero, and a couple of Drift HD170 cameras.

Here are some links to vids:

Needless to say, as soon as the snow flies, I'll be "testing" in the white room.

Got a gopro and love it, tired of waiting for the backpack kits though. Would love even a little screen to see what its actually recording.

The helmet cams are great because you can come up with all these crazy rigs for new angles.

Look at the stuff Provo is doing with a hand mount - http://ianprovo.smugmug.com/HD-Video/Skiing-Snowboarding/8582009_FZWkQ#565667850_4c5H9-A-LB

There is some other dude who has some kind of rig where its about five feet over head and three feet behind him, super cool angle.

It only gets boring if its the same old thing, new mounts and interspersing it with traditional video is where its at.

Provo's footage ruined POV for me. His stuff is so good that watching other POV stuff just doesn't even come close.

Provo's video from powmow last year was ridiculous.

Oh shit I forgot about that one...gotta go find it, pure sickness.

I assume you saw the desert spines one, probably the best use of POV I've ever seen.

Yeah got to watch it yesterday such a good video.

Have you seen Dendrite's Studios "Out of the Shadows" You can buy it for 2 bucks, some really good perspectives in that movie.

ian provo's stuff is also shot with a 5dmkII. big difference between that and a gopro

Still shoots in 1080p. The image will be more crisp and you have better lens options but thats really it. POV is just a tired subject in my opinion. It was awesome when it first came out but now everyone has some type of POV camera and in my opinion is over used in videos these days. I enjoy seeing how gnarly the line is that is being ridden.

I'd like to figure out some kinda MacGiver helmet or chest rig for the Iphone. No idea if it's feasible or how poor the quality (vibrations) would be. I can't justify the cost of buying another video set up with all the photo/video gear I already own.......and barely use.

It is going to turn out terrible. I use my iphone4 as a GPS, so i have a suction cup mount for it. I decided to test the camera's quality by recording a POV drivethrough of Camden on my way to school. The slightest bump caused the worst case of jello cam i have ever seen. It is fine for shooting handheld crap on the fly, but i doubt it would hold up to skiing well at all.

However, this little contraption looks promising. It allows for the attaching of various lenses, external mics, and supposedly helps with vibrations. samples look good.

Pretty cool, but too bulky/goofy for helmet mount
