mbike-ski Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 headed up early friday morning - warm 50-60d, AWESOME spring conditions lapping the soft elysian fields bumps with jr until i couldn't take no mo' then recovered with a few runs with the girls. ended it with a tub and some rooster fish brewing coacoa porters in the the lodge bar with some old & new friends - pretty much a perfect spring day was worried what the snow would do overnight with the dropping temps, only an inch or two in the foreacast woke up saturday am at 4 no snow, but by 8:30 about 3 had fallen and it was puking with high winds. chilled til around 10 then headed out. crazy wind but found the protected spot on the mountain where the snow ranged anywhere from toe to knee deep. again just chased junior all day with mrss snowbunski then cought up to my older daughter and her boyfriend riding for a few runs. ROD was mars to the headwall under chair #5 stopped to catch my breath and admire my tracks from the run before... when jr flys by me making some of his own... sunday woke up to flurries, for the most part the mountain had been groomed out to a silent carpet topped with a few inches of fresh - just incredible. the slush bumps had filled in and become pow bumps and the glades were in play - even got mrs snowbunski to venture in to rock a few runs! we even threw in a few gates sunday morning to round out what i'd call one of the the most diverse and best weekends of snow condition i've ever had. a good warmup for steamboat next week! 1 Quote
Johnny Style Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Nice TR. Jr does look tall. You can easily tell that Mrs. Snowbunski is a Blue Mt. racer. She has the form they teach. I miss Greek Peak. I didn't know you were going to Steamboat next week. I'll contact you offline. Quote
trackbiker Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Nice report and great pics. I was there on a super windy powder day two years with two guys who had never been there. We were debating to even ski but bought our tickets and headed over to the east mountain and there was virtually no wind over there and 8" of powder. I think you found the place to be on Saturday. Virtually all of New York/New England was on wind holds. Quote
