October is Upon Us

With high temperatures creeping back into the low 60s on Friday, and lows in the 40s, we won't be seeing any snowmaking with the intention of opening, but with lows of 25 and 20 tonight and tomorrow, I would bet we see some resorts blowing out the mice.

I'm betting not this week.

I completely forgot that accuweather was going to update their model at the beginning of October. Time has really flown by since their last update. Looks like the forecast is similar to years past for NEPA. What year was it where we would get warmth for a week, a snowstorm, then cold for a week? For like two months. Or is that every year? Looks like the Springs will post a third consecutive 200 in plus season. I've still got a month, but with that forecast, I'm really hoping the job pans out. It should be an epic winter either way!!!

Unfortunately, it looks like we've got another warm front coming through, but after that I'm hoping it will drop. Temps are close to 15 degrees above average. It's definitely nice to see. That second picture is really sweet. Good color, especially with some white!!!

I tend to agree... We definitely get spoiled with these early season openings, event if it is just T2 at the River or the NRT trail pod at Killington. It's nice to see. I hope SR gets their trail open for Halloween, but if they have T2B by mid November (which only takes 3 days), I'll be happy...

Of course not! Looks like you have Don K Subaru in Whitefish. You'd pay below what they pay for the car. Let me know if you're ever interested...

Actually, I don't like the Outbacks after 2009. My husband just bought a 2009 manual because we're sort of afraid of manuals ceasing to exist. I don't really have the money to buy a "new" car, but I know that my Audi won't live as long as I will.

Just checked out DCSki, and they have written an article that totals Snowshoe's snowfall from last weekend. They total it at 9 inches, have some swanky pics, and state that they tested the snowmaking system. First legitimate resort snowfall and snowmaking in West Virginia? I'm calling Shenanigans...

No worries. I have a 2004 5-speed Legacy Wagon and kinda like the older style myself. However, I've done a ton of events and thousands of miles over the past two years in the new Outbacks and they're still awesome in the snow and do wayyy better on the highway. Lots more passenger room too. My car really doesn't like to do over 70mph, not because it is falling apart or old, its just not geared for it. I'd never make it if I lived somewhere with 80mph+ speed limits.

Just putting the offer out there in case anyone has been car shopping and is considering a Subaru...

x2 for the Sunday River shots. Looks awesome!
