Johnny Style Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 So sad. She was a wife, business woman, model, beauty, athlete, product representative, spokesperson, pioneer, competitor, winner, ripper, skier. We lost a good one today. There are way too many dead skiers lately. 1 Quote
Justo8484 Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 So sad. She was a wife, business woman, model, beauty, athlete, product representative, spokesperson, pioneer, competitor, winner, ripper, skier. We lost a good one today. There are way too many dead skiers lately. All true. Kt and I got to hang with her for a bit at a movie premier a while back. She's one of most genuine, nicest people I've ever met, and was such a great ambassador for this sport. I'm glad I can say I had the chance to meet her. Quote
burton71 Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 So sad. As a snowboarder I always repected what she did for the her sport. She will be missed by lots of people. Quote
Shadows Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 was reading updates the past week or so thinking, yea ok, shell pull out of it. did not see this coming. disbelief for sure. terrible. Quote
momskeeztoo Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 I've been following this story since her accident. So sad. I read an article about her awhile back, and she sounded like a genuinely nice person. My heart goes out to her family Quote
Johnny Law Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 Something about this one really bothers me......RIP.........this is becoming like an annual thing, skiing saying good bye to a legand Quote
mbike-ski Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 very sad to see someone so gifted and beautiful taken doing something we all love. was nice to hear her and her family chose organ donation to help others in their time of great loss (from the father of a transplant recipient) may her family and friends find many blessings, strentgh and peace 2 Quote
peski28 Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 Sobey I totally agree, hit by a truck when I heard opposite of my expectations of her coming around. Ski in peace Sarah Burke, only the good die young. Quote
guitar73 Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 totally sucks. this is just another reminder of how fragile life is. our thoughts go out to her friends and family. Quote
PASKIINGSUCKS Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 Prayers to her parents, nobody should have to bury their children. Quote
toast21602 Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 Something about this one really bothers me... same here. not sure why. but i don't like it. Quote
mollyskeeze Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 ski in peace sarah. it was nice meeting her at seven springs last year. so sad to hear of this, Quote
Johnny Law Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 So that's CR, Sarah, JP, Coombs, Shane, and a couple I'm forgetting....skiing is the modern day formula 1...... Quote
Kyle Posted January 20, 2012 Report Posted January 20, 2012 i feel like death comes in waves in pro sports. there were 2 deaths in the nhl in the past year, i believe there was a couple in the nfl the year before. its a shame it has to happen like that. vibes go out to her family. like paskiingsucks said no parent should ever have to bury their kids. at least she was doing what she loved. RIP Quote
Justo8484 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Yaaa something about this just affected me more that Shane or cr's passing. Maybe it's because I actually got to meet her. It sucks all around. PA pow turns for Sarah tomorrow. Quote
phillycore Posted January 21, 2012 Author Report Posted January 21, 2012 McConkey was a big loss too..... The guy was an absolute legend when it comes to modern day skiing. It's just getting all to commonplace the past few years.... CR Johnson, Jamie Pierre,Shane McConkey, and now Sarah Burke were all in the past 4 years alone... Doug Coombs was 2006..... Then you can add in the celebrity factor with Natasha Richardson, and Sonny Bono as well if you want to take it that far. I think Sarah maybe just stands out more because she was so personable. She wasn't the typical "crazy" skier in the public eye. She definitely was more of a public figure than any of the others who were mainly only known within the skiing community. People who don't know shit about skiing at all, knew Sarah Burke.... Quote
Shadows Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 not taking anything away from cr/coombs/pierre or anyone but the fuckin olympics... sarah has been in the industry longer than anybody currently in the circuit. she put so much into it and this happens. i was so stoked to see her in the olympics. thats why its hard to believe.
