sibhusky Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 Looks boney, I can see why they closed...damn about u falling. Actually there was 2-3 inches of fresh the day before. Corn snow here (where it is cold at night) is always icy in the AM. However, that particular bowl skied great by midday. Conditions seem to go from ice to perfect corn IF THERE IS NO NEW SNOW. Unfortunately, if we get a skiff of fresh, that stuff is really grabby in the PM. Siblet is nursing badly hurt shoulder due to this phenomenon. Quote
indiggio Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 I gotta move. Need more snow. Ditto! Need to find a good place to which to retire with good local skiing and consistent snow! Quote
AngryHugo Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 I gotta move. Need more snow. x3 The winter we had here was a giant turdball sandwich. 1 Quote
AtomicSkier Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 That's about 70% of our winters. I'm starting to question living in PA as a skier as well. At the very least I need to save more money for ski trips. Gay ski week in Aspen next year with Jeff NazarethJay and Chippy will be Sickbird. I hope to be out of PA and in the roaring fork valley in 3-4 years. Need to live somewhere with some real snow Quote
Barb Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) Bear Peak. Wanted to do this hike for a while. There are several routes and the shortest (7 miles) is also the steepest. Top elevation is 8400'. This picture was taken from a false summit. Bought an altimeter at REI with my rebate and that's the only reason I knew I wasn't at the top. My ass was kicked at this point 7800' but wanted to try for the top. The further I went the steeper it got until you were actually bouldering. I crapped out at 8000' and called it a day. Next time I will get to the top, maybe taking the less steep route. " /> http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m566/mousetrapgal/saddle.jpg[/img]"]http:// Edited April 15, 2012 by Barb 1 Quote

Timeless Posted May 5, 2012 Report Posted May 5, 2012 jealous..... season all but done here, just slushy patches and limited lifts in Tahoe. Time to focus on summer, going kayaking with the sea otters in monterey bay this weekend. 1 Quote
Timeless Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Kayaking in Monterey bay this weekend, quite some swell in the open water but calm by the shore, we saw lots of sea lions : and a bunch of sea otters just chillin' in the sunshine. For casual kayakers, this place is just amazing, not too busy or scary, some nice waves to surf in and a great opportunity to get really close to some neat wildlife. My "pic from today", riding to work this morning (making a 2 mile commute last 18 miles) Hope you are all having great day too. 3 Quote
