tarponhead Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 My wife and I are big fans of small houses as well. Looking to down size when we retire. Please post pics of vacation house when finished. Very cool! 1 Quote
indiggio Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Right, once the kid is gone, it's downsizeville as well. Can't stand the upkeep on the current house so as it is. Quote
Barb Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 This is what I bought. Planned to improve as is but oh well. New house will be 900 sf, not tiny but small. 4 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Barb is that in town??? Quote
Shadows Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Thats what we call a caretakers unit. Bedroom upstairs/loft. Main floor grow space Quote
kragan Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Yes in town, not Mt. Crested Butte. Just spent the weekend down there. Considering it was a holiday weekend the mountain never got too crowded. It's a great little town and the real estate is still somewhat affordable. I wonder if the expanding direct flights to Gunnison are going to change that. 1 Quote

Barb Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Kragan why no pics? Step it up. Hope you enjoyed yourself. How did you like the Monarch Mountain Lodge? 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 I saw a video of kragan skiing at Monarch and the snow looked good. Quote

Easter break out here started last weekend and continues through next. Kragan why no pics? Step it up. Hope you enjoyed yourself. How did you like the Monarch Mountain Lodge? The Lodge was decent. Only spent one night there, but the breakfast was good and it had more amenities than I expected. Quote
Shadows Posted March 24, 2016 Report Posted March 24, 2016 Little worried about my health/sleep so i have no idea how long i can keep this job up. used to have a plan/motivation, now idk. Started ropes though. Quote
Barb Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 March going out like a lion. I need to figure out how to ski powder, I suck in it. My legs are so tired after just 2 hours WTF 3 Quote

Barb Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Ok since GSS gave me permission I may cut out after one more run. Quote
NMSKI Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Speed is your friend just like in spring conditions. 2 hours of pow skiing is solid stuff. Speed will only mask your deficiencies, the only way to get good at powder and spring conditions is to do lots of whirlybirds. 5 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Ok since GSS gave me permission I may cut out after one more run. I don't know if you've been on the search for untracked or mostly skiing tracked or chopped up powder aka chowder but cut up pow with push piles is some of the most leg burning snow. If you're tired take a break or quit. Gotta cash in your chips before you go bust. Quote
Barb Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Push piles. Ok Doug you made me feel slightly less whimpy thanks! Quote
Justo8484 Posted March 26, 2016 Report Posted March 26, 2016 A reasonably stiff ski with a bit of tip rocker and taper with a long-ish turning radius is your friend in chopped up snow. A little bit of speed and it'll track through crud pretty well. What are you skiing on, out of curiosity? 1 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 26, 2016 Report Posted March 26, 2016 This is from Abasin the other day before they had two snow storms. I like the contrast between light and dark. Quote

Think next season I need to demo some skis. Edited March 26, 2016 by Barb Quote
