Yes in town, not Mt. Crested Butte.

Just spent the weekend down there.  Considering it was a holiday weekend the mountain never got too crowded.  It's a great little town and the real estate is still somewhat affordable.  I wonder if the expanding direct flights to Gunnison are going to change that.

That could help Barb by raising real estate values.

This last weekend was a holiday weekend???

Yes, more like a holiday week ... Easter break out here started last weekend and continues through next.

Kragan why no pics? Step it up. Hope you enjoyed yourself. How did you like the Monarch Mountain Lodge?

The Lodge was decent. Only spent one night there, but the breakfast was good and it had more amenities than I expected.

March going out like a lion. I need to figure out how to ski powder, I suck in it. My legs are so tired after just 2 hours WTF

Speed is your friend just like in spring conditions. 2 hours of pow skiing is solid stuff.

Speed will only mask your deficiencies, the only way to get good at powder and spring conditions is to do lots of whirlybirds.

Ok since GSS gave me permission I may cut out after one more run. ;)

I don't know if you've been on the search for untracked or mostly skiing tracked or chopped up powder aka chowder but cut up pow with push piles is some of the most leg burning snow. If you're tired take a break or quit. Gotta cash in your chips before you go bust.

A reasonably stiff ski with a bit of tip rocker and taper with a long-ish turning radius is your friend in chopped up snow. A little bit of speed and it'll track through crud pretty well. What are you skiing on, out of curiosity?

K2 Superlfic. They are narrow and really meant for groomers. Think next season I need to demo some skis.
