I have to go to vegas for a wedding in the middle of November and I'm dreading it.  We are getting there 2 days early and taking a quick side trip to Zion which will be nice though.

Vegas is awesome. I went in 2016 and walked the strip, ascended Stratosphere, rode ATVs in the desert, spent $20 in casinos, and drove to Area 51 for an alien burger. I have no idea why you guys are saying it sucks.

I also don't really get why there's such negativity towards Vegas. It can be really fun for a few days.

I should actually say the strip just doesnt appeal to me.  It just kind of seems to be repetitive.  Like, it just repeats itself every 300 feet or so.  casino, strip joint, hot dog stand, t shirt shop, spencers gifts, casino, strip joint, hot dog stand, spencers gifts........

Everything we did, we did outside of the strip.  There was almost no reason for us to be staying on the strip, but i guess when you go to Vegas, thats what you do.  Its just a little over the top for me.

The strip can definitely get cheesy quick but there are some great restaurants, shows, bars, pools, etc. I had a blast staying off of the strip, enjoying the big resort pool and desert sun and then also going way outside of town to drive quads in the desert.

All of my negativity toward Vegas is a direct result of me being totally out of control and doing stupid shit a number of times.  All of my high school friends live in either Phoenix, LA or Albuquerque, and I did about 2 Vegas bachelor parties per year for a decade.  Lots of good old family fun can be had I'm sure, but I'm a piece of shit and should not be allowed to go without significant supervision.

I'll volunteer to take you to Vegas and offer "supervision".

Ever notice how the people walking around the casinos are mostly obese, have walkers and oxygen tanks to breathe? It’s like the biggest concentration of unhealthy people in one place.

It’s the same at the Allentown farmers market and in my office at work.  When I was in Vegas I stayed at a high end places and it was mostly young to middle aged people partying, hanging at the pool and betting on sporting events for march madness.  Vegas is like the jersey shore for Southern California.  They descend on Sin City every weekend to party.  Club XS was amazing…I went there two nights in a row and also Club Rain at the Palms.  Also amazing buffets as well.

FYI I was thinking that Disney world or Vegas was the top tourist destination but it’s actually Times Square in NYC.  I know there’s a lot of Jimmy Buffett fans on PASR and there’s even a margaritaville resort in Times Square a nice place to have a cheeseburger in paradise.

I was there. I didn't see U2, though.

You would have enjoyed the sky at night. It was the second best I've seen, only to Urabamba, Peru where there is absolutely no light pollution. Seeing shooting stars all over the place. The Milky Way was stunningly present. It was just incredible.

When I used to go to the Sands, the Chinese folks would garbage pick.  On the buses they took in from NYC they received a $5 food voucher and often I had somebody approach me and try to sell the food voucher for $2-3.  The worst I heard was them killing ducks and geese in Bethlehem and bringing them back to NYC to cook up later.  Now all y’all know why despite a high cost of living, there are so many cheap eats in Chinatown.

Death Valley recovered from the floods yet?

There are still a lot of road closures, especially with the non-paved surfaces. Lots of rock and mud still around the roads. It was odd seeing park service trucks with plows on them in 110 degree heat.
