NMSKI Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Didn't think I was that afraid of snakes but I screamed like a little bitch when I was getting some wood for my fire and found this little guy. 2 Quote
moe ghoul Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Yeah, that gave me a shiver down the spine just looking at the picture. Could you tell what kind it was? Quote
NMSKI Posted September 28, 2014 Report Posted September 28, 2014 Yeah, that gave me a shiver down the spine just looking at the picture. Could you tell what kind it was?I believe it was an eastern garter snake. Quote
trackbiker Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 That is an eastern garter snake. Snakes, bats, and spiders are all good. Don't kill them. None of them want to bite you and they eat pests that we like even less like flies, mice, and mosquitoes. 2 Quote

toast21602 Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 Leaves starting to change pretty nicely around here during my run - another week and it should be good! And of course another great sunset. Really never gets old. 3 Quote

AKA the most harmless snake on the entire East coast excepting maybe the hognose snake which will actually play possum and stick it's tongue out ha. Any snake will give ya a startle though if you're not expecting it. I found a water snake halfway through eating a brown trout on the side of a creek up in Alburtis this summer. This is from last week but what the heck. Blues are going off down at the beaches right now. This thing has a much better chance of taking a chunk out of you than that snake ha. 6 Quote

RidgeRacer Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Here's an aerial (ferris wheel) pic from a local Carbon Co October fest on Saturday with The Blue Mountain and Bake Oven knob out in the distance. Edited October 6, 2014 by RidgeRacer 3 Quote
Barb Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Since my pass was still good spent another beautiful morning in the IPW. So many lakes up there. Picturesque but very windy today. 3 Quote
Barb Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Its $10 to get in and u have access for 3 days. A yearly pass is $55 but in winter they close the gate and don't maintain the road so it's not worth it for me. Gate will prob be closing for the winter in a few weeks. You can access it from other free areas but this time of year the road is pretty sketchy. It's actually pretty sketchy in July, but passable. Edited October 6, 2014 by Barb Quote
