RidgeRacer Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 As usual we get the shaft here in the East. The snow sucks, The Mountains suck (for the most part). The scenery isnt as nice while the west gets to see cool shit like the Northern Lights and solar eclipses. Utah ski resorts are actually opening up for the this so it should be cool. http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_t3 Quote
sibhusky Posted May 20, 2012 Report Posted May 20, 2012 supposedly it's the first time in ten years there's been one visible in Montana. Quote
Barb Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Boys are outside with their glasses they handed out in school trying to see something. Unfortunately too cloudy. Quote
NMSKI Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 My mom, who lives in Albuquerque, NM was telling me that they got a great view of the eclipse from there. A bunch of people in her neighborhood made boxes with cutouts that you stand with your back to the sun and look at the eclipse through. She had bought some $1 eclipse glasses which were much better than looking though a box with a cutout. To me it kind of seems like people are overly cautious with all the glasses and boxes and stuff. Just get a quick look and then look away. I'm not an astronomer or an eye doctor, but if you need special glasses to look at an eclipse, shouldn't you do the same when you look at a sunset? Nobody does that though. Quote
Timeless Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 missed it, in f'in sweden where the sun wont get lost long enough to sleep, stupid place to live/ work if you ask me. apparently it was quite good in northern CA, my kids got some decent pictures. Quote
