Ride Delaware ? Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 So, my family and I decided to come up to our condo at Sugarbush this week to do some work on it before the renters come in. I had been at Sunday River for some training before heading over to Sugarbush and hadn't brought my gear. When the weather turned for the better, and several mountains decided to open, I had my parents bring up my snowboarding equipment for me. I finally had the chance to go riding today, and I hopped in the car at 8 for the hour long ride to Killington. I pulled in just before 9, scored my ticket for $39, and was on the K1 for uploading by 9:10. I would say that the first parking lot was full, and there were maybe 300 patrons there. It was 26 degrees at the top and snowmaking was going t2b. There were roughly 5 trails that combined to make up 2 runs off the North Ridge Triple and the Great Northern was a separate run from the K1 to the NRT. Unless you wanted to hike up the Stairway to Heaven to lap it, then it wasn't really skiable. I ended up taking 15 runs total. No trails were listed as groomed, but I was pleasantly surprised to find Rime groomed in its entirety. ROTD was East Fall to Rime. East Fall wasn't groomed and had some nice whales and side snow. Lower East Fall was pretty treacherous. Massive wet whales with huge pits that were marked, but very few safe routes. It will be fine once it is groomed out. Base depths were plenty deep and should hold through the warm up this weekend. The only lift lines were when there was a lift stoppage. Very few empty chairs, but no lines. As I stated before, snowmaking was t2b when I got there, with some snowmaking ongoing on open terrain. The guns on open terrain were getting wet and were shut off by 10:30. Middle Great Northern was closed with snowmaking, and it will link to Mouse Trap and Bunny Buster to make a t2b route off the Snowdon Quad. Rumor has it that they will be t2b on Saturday. It's a little thin at the base, but it should be doable. Here's some pics. Hopefully I can make it back tomorrow. Two pics caught the corner of my glove. My apologies. 2 Quote
AngryHugo Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Looks really good! Well, except for that Stairway to Heaven. Quote
OutCold Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Poor form on the glove finger shots, but other than that it was a nice, informative TR. Glad to hear somebody's enjoying some snow this early in the season. Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted November 9, 2012 Author Report Posted November 9, 2012 Looks really good! Well, except for that Stairway to Heaven. I had seen it before, but you don't really get the gist of it until you actually walk it. Only takes 8-10 to walk if your trucking, but you will get gassed by the end of it. If it means me riding earlier in the season, then so be it lol Poor form on the glove finger shots, but other than that it was a nice, informative TR. Glad to hear somebody's enjoying some snow this early in the season. That's why I apologized beforehand... If I had seen them at the time, I would have retaken them... 1 Quote

Ride Delaware ? Posted November 9, 2012 Author Report Posted November 9, 2012 Nice report...how was Floyd's? Floyd's is very much like a unicorn... Still haven't found it yet... pics dont work here but sounds cool. I don't think anyone else had problems with the pics... I post them as I normally would... Stairway to heaven is a pain in the ass...the reason I don't do early season at Kmart anymore. The stairway is a pain in the ass, but for some pretty decent early season turns, I would say it is an acceptable sacrifice... It is a pretty big workout for you... It's no parking lot pimping, but it's tough work regardless... 3 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 Looks good. How is the foliage up there 2 Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted November 10, 2012 Author Report Posted November 10, 2012 Unfortunately, the foliage up here is shot... There are very few leaves left on the trees... However, there are a bunch of leaves on our porch... I can take some pics for stoke? Quote
