Ride Delaware ? Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 I'll try to keep this one a little shorter. After recording my earliest day on record by one day yesterday, I decided to follow it up with another day before I head back south. Although I left Sugarbush earlier than yesterday, my whole schedule was off about 10 minutes from yesterday due to road construction. It was already more crowded with many people taking advantage of turning a 3 day weekend into a 4. Temp was about 31 at the base and snowmaking was on at 9:25. Got to the top where temps were 25. Took a run down Great Northern to the NRT. I was pleasantly surprised to find the lower middle section of GN that ends behind the NRT was open. It's not any spectacular terrain, but it was nice to have a longer cruiser. It was mostly groomed with some snow guns on near the bottom. Those guns were dry. No lift line after the first run, but that would be short lived. Every run after that the line grew until it was about a 10 minute wait and they had to put the lift corrals out about 10:30. They made a singles line which cut the wait to about 3-5 minutes so no complaints. As it was yesterday, Rime was groomed. Reason had been groomed out and made into the typical early season terrain park with 6 rails. Temp was 28 at the base of the NRT and 26 at the K1 after I walked the stairway to heaven. I was there got about 3 hours again, but only logged 12 runs due to the lines. All in all, another fun day. At the bottom, the guns had been turned off, but they were still on Bunny Buster about 200 feet further up. It was in the upper 30's at the base. As small as it is, you have to love the elevation up top. I talked with a snowmaker who was out free riding, and he was surprised that they weren't t2b considering they had been on the connectors for 48 hours. It looks like all the intersections are ready to go, but some of the places in between were thin. The rumor was that they would be t2b on Saturday. However, after checking the report today, they are not. However, you can opt to bushwhack to the bottom instead of downloading if you so choose. That option is only opened up after the morning hours, and wasn't available when I left yesterday. It's a shame they couldn't truly go t2b today. Considering the crowds they had yesterday, they could have really used the extra space and uphill capacity. Here are some pics... 2 Quote

RootDKJ Posted November 10, 2012 Report Posted November 10, 2012 I really almost drove to K last night. Now I'm kinda pissed I didn't. Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted November 11, 2012 Author Report Posted November 11, 2012 I really almost drove to K last night. Now I'm kinda pissed I didn't. It coulda been hit or miss Root. Luckily it didn't really get "scratched off" since there hasn't been much freeze thaw up until today, but with the amount of traffic on it yesterday, and the almost certain increase in skier traffic today, you definitely would have spent more time in the lift line than on the slopes, and conditions would have been scratchy quick. I'm sure some people got in a run or two t2b, but with no more uphill lift service, it had to be a zoo. Quote
