Winter coming on strong today

It's been a good 10 days of skiing in the notch with a slow start when I got up here but the weather really came thru since Sunday, with a few minor setbacks but nothing that harmed the progress of base building and filling in the mountains up here. The past few days we're 3-5" days up top and then the afterburners kicked in with 12-15" above 3000 ft with refills today. Been skiing pretty hard with a few skins to the top of Madonna today, via Chilcoot, down Upper FIS, Doc Dempsey and then I lost track since I was at the back of the pack. Ropes dropped, ropes were ignored, it was full on goodness today. Still dialing in the new gear, I think the Cochise's are to big, I wasn't trnasferring energy into the turns so I swapped back to the Endorphins which made a big difference. I know a few peeps that day tripped to ME to harvest the big dump yesterday with tales to tell. Feels like the pineapple express is weakening and at least NE is starting to feel like a December I don't remember in the recent past. Was going to go home Thursday but that's been extended another day.

How's the PA McSnow holding up?

I'll try to post up a few pix when I get back. Happy Kwanzanukahmas to all teh PASRs.

Nice stuff....it might get cold enough around these parts to make snow friday night.

Taking up residency in Vermont?

Been a resy since June. That was part of the plan.

Nice dude I'll be up in your hood all next week.

You won't be disappointed, snow pack is deep up[ high, some trees in play, next 24 hour weather pattern might tamp things down, but I think there's some good activity starting again on Sunday. We're cleaning up and packing this PM, heading back tomorrow. Awesome session this AM with a few early fresh track runs off Sterling, then a skin up with TC and TWD thru Doc's to FIS. Full frontal ejection on the last run. Hopefully, TC will post up some pix he took on TGR ECRC later. Even saw a little blue sky and sun before the clouds rolled back in. A real advantage to tour with a few quasi locals to learn the hills around here. Hershey highway and Keyhole got tracked for the first time this season. So much terrain, so little time to explore.

I've got a friend who lives up that way as well so it really is a possibility this winter. I'm desperate to get anywhere the way this season has started...

Toast can restock the beers, you need to bring up some smoked pork product!

i didn't sign up for that.... but i guess if you drink them you gotta restock them, so i'm in.

Did you end up with a pass at Smuggs? If I volunteer at SB next year and get a pass, I may get the midweek at Smuggs as a change of pace... Fairly affordable at $500 and it's only about an hour away... Better than an hour south to Killy...

I got the hybrid, weekdays only and $25 for a ticket during blackouts and weekends.

That's also what I would have been looking at... Seems like a sweet deal with no "real" blackouts... If I go like 20-25 times it would be well worth it... Jay, Stowe, and Smuggs are the top snow getters year after year it seems...

Got up at 6am, finished some cleaning up, plowed the driveway, shoveled the deck, yada yada, we ended up with an insane wind, rain, sleet storm that was dropping trees and limbs for a solid 5 hours. Holy shit, for a while I thought the Mayans were on to something. Power went out around lunch time just as we were closing the house. Soooooooooo.......we decided to stay to watch the house during the raging rain and wind. I was standing in the kitchen and watched a 60ft pine snap and fall. I set up the generator, made 3 trips to town for odds and ends, built a fire, set up the kerosene heater and got the Tv and frig running, emptied the cooler back into the frig, got takeout for lunch. By about 6pm I had everything dialed in and the power came on. On my last trip back from town I picked my nose and got a nosebleed. I came home and it started snowing. I'm on my 3rd heady topper and realized I coulda gone skiing for 3 hours this morning, let the rain wash away the snow in the driveway and deck, saved myself 100$ in gas and hardware and ended up with the same result. Crazy day.
