vinnyv11 Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Conditions - Fresh snow from the prior days (over a foot in the past storm), light snow to start the day turning heavy all day. Accumulation about 8 inches during the day. So we made our way up to New York in the morning and decided to hit Hunter with our ski and stay package. This was my first days on snow this year and man did we make a great choice. The snow was amazing and the fresh snow just kept on coming. This was a trip with the wife and my cousin (11) so I didn't get to hit everything I wanted to but the legs needed to get under me anyway so probably better that way. Spent most of the morning with the wife doing the various beginner terrain around the mountain and jumping on whatever off trail stuff was next to them. After the wife needed a break I headed up the six pack (which was packed) and figured it was time to jump back in with a run down the cliff to racers edge. I guess warming up was not going to occur this year because the fresh snow made for great bumps and a nice technical run especially on racers edge. Was beat when I got to the bottom but it felt great to finally get out there again. Spent some more time doing runs down the terrain park which if you avoided the features had untouched powder on a nice pitch to the outside. After getting lunch the wife decided to come back out so we did another beginner then I talked her into going down Kennedy drive a nice intermediate trail which ended up being a fail as the fresh snow and bumps forming made her completely freak out but experiences are experiences. She went back in so I headed back up the mountain and hit Hellgate, Eisenhauer and some other various run. Goggles got real foggy at one point which when your going down pow thats getting bumped up can be a problem lol causing me to almost bite it at one point. It was getting close to 3:30 which was when my cousins program ended so I headed over her way and did some blue runs which was when I saw some untracked powder under the lift because it was roped off and you needed to go through some trees so I hit that and it was glorious. After this I met up with my cousin and watched her ski a while. She did great and looks like with some more practice she'll be getting it. All in all it was a great day and I enjoyed the mountain with my only complaints being it was packed!!! Several buses and idiots who had no clue what they were doing. Almost ended the day in a fight because some out of control asshole crashed into my cousin but luckily only clipped her. Not sure what the etiquette is there do you punch the guy for not knowing what he's doing and running into a kid rather than falling. Beautiful Powder Under Lift: Snowing hard and looking down a trail: 2 Quote

Ride Delaware ? Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Nice pics Vinny!!! Looks like Maine!!! Glad your cousin is ok... Usually if the guy is apologetic, you should reprimand him and let him off... If he's a douche... Well, that's your call... Quote
