sibhusky Posted February 21 Author Report Posted February 21 Day 41. Missed a whole week of powder due to the flu. Had a shaky first day back and it's a different season. Went from polar conditions to early spring. 4 Quote
sibhusky Posted February 24 Author Report Posted February 24 Day 42. A real mixed bag. First run was a confidence-destroying slog through windpack, looking for blown-off areas or chopped up stuff. Headed to back and found Saturday-level crowds. Then went over to Chair 2 for mashed potatoes and cottage cheese. 3 Quote
sibhusky Posted February 25 Author Report Posted February 25 Day 43. The worst fog I've been in, in 25 years, on the Ant Hill today. I couldn't figure out where "down" was to look for the next fog ball. Tried following people, but they rapidly disappeared and I had to wait for another. Fortunately, Flower Point wasn't as bad and there was skiing bliss to be found on its silky snow. If only that lift wasn't so slow!! Mixed in a few chair 5's to break it up, but it's no speed demon, either. Could have skied that stuff all day but the slow lift and dumping graupel finally sapped away any warmth. 2 Quote
sibhusky Posted February 27 Author Report Posted February 27 Day 44. The morning web cam showed it was going to be a glorious day and it was. But this is too much "Spring", too early. l 3 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 @sibhusky James from Rise and Alpine visited the Big Mountain Montana. His mantra is ski fast and rip ass!! Quote
sibhusky Posted February 28 Author Report Posted February 28 Day 45. No Name was worth repeating, but is tough to lap. There are a ton of ski clubs here that I wish would leave. They seem to predominately consist of the clueless. 2 Quote

His mantra is ski fast and rip ass!! He was here Monday. He should have come a week sooner. I can't believe he went to the Firebrand.$$ Monday was a mixed bag, definitely not the best. His chair buddy sent him to Flower Point, which was a good choice early in the day. He then ignored them and went to East Rim. That would definitely have warmed him up. sibhusky Posted February 28 Author Report Posted February 28 I lost the rest of my comments due to a time out. Probably just as well. Not going to subscribe. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 And sorry, that was Lucas Catania..he was on his way back to Utah after skiing in Canada. Quote
sibhusky Posted March 2 Author Report Posted March 2 Day 46. It's spring here. I skied until the slop and crowds were getting excessive. 2 Quote
sibhusky Posted March 4 Author Report Posted March 4 Day 47. Everything hard as granite all day, including a damned normally-groomed area that I like to hit, but you can't exit once you get there and it wasn't. Rock hard mush in lumps, chunks, and ridges. Glad I survived that mess. Did find skiable trails here and there. 2 Quote

sibhusky Posted March 11 Author Report Posted March 11 Day 52. Spent the day baby sitting a visitor from MN. Will not do that tomorrow. Needed a stiff drink when I got home. 2 Quote
PSUFrankenstein Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 How have the conditions been at Whitefish? looks pretty good from the recent pics, especially Sunday's post. I may do a day at Whitefish depending on where I end up on Montana at the end of the month Quote
sibhusky Posted March 12 Author Report Posted March 12 Day 53. Winter is back, with more snow on the way. Not a moment too soon. Today's was medium density, good for coverage, but skiable. Unfortunately, lower on the front got packed and was like a marble floor with lumps in areas with a lot of traffic. Scary as hell with meat missiles who can't ski for shit. The trouble is, you can't stay on the back forever, you must return home via some route or other through that hell. 3 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 Nice Sibhusky way to get after it and I know you miss my Blue reports..stay tuned. Tomorrows gonna be a good one and Saturday even better. Quote
sibhusky Posted March 14 Author Report Posted March 14 Day 54. Stellar conditions over most of the mountain. Took an off piste run, which is rare at my age. 3 Quote
sibhusky Posted March 16 Author Report Posted March 16 Day 55. Ankle deep and more even on groomed runs, so no need to dive into the trees. Full body workout. l 3 Quote
