Day 57. Pretty empty and all kinds of weather. At least some of it was more snow.

Day 58. Skied with friends in fog, snow, and graupel (free Big Mountain face peel with every run). Snow was great. Visibility was variable.

Day 62. Snow was soft from the start. And slooow by lunch. Need to do some structure work, I guess, but it looks fine.PANO_20250327_1342292.thumb.jpg.0b6728d465bd77ac54bc881bd167365b.jpgPXL_20250327_1803021983.thumb.jpg.946e8ba84346fe481bbeaadbd6b91505.jpg

Mongo snow ball contest?

Near as I could tell, it rolled down the hill on its own. I was on a lift on the opposite ridge when I saw it. I think it was kicked off up high. Then these guys came down after it and it looked like they were sculpting it into a jump. But really, that means that slope needs closing. I don't know why ski patrol wasn't chasing them off. Similar but slightly steeper areas on similar-facing ridges are all closed because of avalanche danger. If this well-pounded slope is shedding sections that way it's not safe. I've been next to an avalanche years back. Missed being hit by seconds.

Day 68. Third winter continues. A gift of a day as far as snow quality - ankle deep and light - but high winds and equipment issues (mine and the mountain's), along with exhaustion, meant I didn't take full advantage.

Day 70. Hit goal for day count. Don't normally ski Saturday, but... goals. It was pretty nice. Crowds showed up late.

Sibhusky do you do any sort of season ending party with your skiing buddies?

I mostly ski alone. I might ski a run or share a lift with others I know, but, like me, they don't like "pack skiing."

People party on the mountain in costume and get drunk. I exit when they start dong stupid stuff.

My locker room buddies are all busy emptying their lockers. Most are, like me, old as dirt, because there's an 8 year waiting list and you're going to be pretty old before you think you want to pay that kind of money, then you have to wait for one of us to die.

One couple I ski with is back in Florida, emptying their house so they can move here in May. But I expect we'll see them all year round once they move. I guess other than them, everyone else is an actual LOCAL. Like, I'll see them at the grocery store. It's not a metro area. People don't vanish.

Day 71. Closing day. All goals met and exceeded. I hope next year I can say the same.

Only stayed until noon.
