snorovr Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Anyone post this yet? http://www.serfassconstruction.com/projects/view_projects/summit_splash I've seen the flags along the top lodge access road but I'm still kinda surprised how close to the road the waterpark looks in the renderings... RidgeRacer Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Looks sick!!!! That it does. The water slide through the giant volcano looking rock is baller. I'm all over that. Quote
momskeeztoo Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Yes, the volcano slide does look like fun. Not sure how many water parks are needed around here, hope it works out for them. Quote
indiggio Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Found this too that shows location and orientation...http://www.poconorecord.com/assets/pdf/PR1349126.PDF Quote
indiggio Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 They need something that nobody has around the area, like this... 1 Quote

Not sure how many water parks are needed around here, hope it works out for them. people from LV would have to bypass dorney to get there, and at dorney you get an amusement park and water park for probably around the same price. Kyle Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 Most of Dorney parks attendance is people from Philly jersey and New York. That's not his point. Someone from trexlertown or Emmaus isn't going to drive past dorney to go to blues waterpark when they could just go to dorney and get two parks for the price of one or whatever their slogan is Quote
toast21602 Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 ya never know. i'm hopeful. i'm not huge on the idea, but i think getting people up there year-round is their goal right now - and i think that's a good goal to have. 1 Quote

Especially with the shortened seasons we've been having. It'll definatley be a boost to their revenue. Quote
Justo8484 Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 They might if they don't want to spend $50 and deal with Dorney Parks ghetto fabulous crowd. this is the most logical thing you've posted on here in a while. if they can undercut dorney a bit on price and provide a 'better' product, i think they could get visitors. including it with a biking pass wouldn't hurt either. i know a lot of guys i ride with have families and i could definitely see them bringing their significant others and kids along for the day to go to the water park while they ride DH. fromt he renderings, it certainly looks 'nicer' than wildwater, from what i remember. not sure if it's in the works or not, but putting in an actual surfable wave pool would be pretty awesome too. that'd at least tie into the 'outdoor adventure' thing they were pushing for a few years back. toast21602 Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 i'm just hoping they have a lazy river so i can float around with a nalgene filled with whiskey. 4 Quote

Schif Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Waterparks are a tricky business, while they are huge in keeping the revenue stream going throughout the summer months, the day to day operating budget for one of these things is through the roof. I doubt you'll see any kind of undercutting price wise, maybe by a few bucks, but that'll be it. Quote
NMSKI Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 The most tricky thing about waterparks is swimming around in 1,000 other peoples' urine. 1 Quote
AtomicSkier Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 People drive past Bear to goto Blue, people drive past Blue to go to JFBB. People drive past Okemo to go to Killington. People drive past Killington to go to Stowe. People will drive past Dorney to go to Blue's water park, just they'll keep driving past Blue's to go to Camelback's. 1 Quote
indiggio Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 I have to believe they did some market research at some point, at least I would hope they did to gamble that much money... Quote
RootDKJ Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 If they build it, and it's fun, I'll patronize it (translation: get wasted there). I couldn't see getting a season pass, but a few PASR DH bike days followed up with some water park hijinks sounds like a blast. 1 Quote
mbike-ski Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 meh me think i'll stay on the other side of the mountain. although i remember being in the lazy river in sesame place thinkin how cool it would be with a beer ball tethered to my tube. it'd keep the water allot warmer too Quote
Schif Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Can you really get drunk at a waterpark? I would feel like that's pretty well frowned upon. Quote
poconoceancity Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 The water park at Split Rock has a Bar. So the answer is yes. Quote
Schif Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 I would feel so weird having a buzz going and being surrounded by kids playing on slides. They should have an adults only lazy river where you can take drinks with lids on the tubes. I would post up there all summer. Quote
RootDKJ Posted February 14, 2013 Report Posted February 14, 2013 Can you really get drunk at a waterpark? I would feel like that's pretty well frowned upon. You can get drunk at a lot of places. I'd assume that if Blue was operating a waterpark during the summer, the bar would be open anyway. Quote
