SickToothpick Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 Any one ever go to Holiday Valley in Western NY? If not you should consider it... We ususally get about 3 storms a year with over 3 feet of snow, sometimes up to 7 feet, contantly get tons of lake effect snow. Pretty good trails, about 14 rails, 3 parks, a zuagg cut pipe, 3 awesome glades and 53 trails I think. Te site is www.holidayvalley.com and you can see pictures and videos of skiing/riding at www.evillelakeeffect.com Quote
ThinkSnow Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Haven't been there, but heard good things about it. I went to a wedding in Buffalo recently and had folks raving to me about it... Something I'd like to check out some time. Quote
Sno Mountain Skier Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 ... 3 storms a year = lake effects 28857 I think he was reffering to they get 3 noreasters a year and then lake effect to put that on top of it. Quote

Glenn Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Well... arguably you could say elk gets lake effect snow... avg snowbase means alot more than saying lake effect... EDIT: avg snowfall, not snowbase.... Quote
Papasteeze Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Welcome toothpick!! how far is holiday from the pocono region? What is your take on swain? Quote
SickToothpick Posted July 12, 2005 Author Report Posted July 12, 2005 ohhh swain eh? It's nice, usually not crowded at all, the trails aren't very fun or hard because it takes about 2 minutes to get down them, the lifts are slower than death, the park is pretty nice. It's a good place to spend the day I guess. I'd say it's a good 5 hours away from the poconos. Quote
Glenn Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I'd say it's a good 5 hours away from the poconos. 28916 5 hour drive... I'll pass. I can ride small moutains with slow lifts a lot closer to home... Quote
