RidgeRacer Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 4 inches at the bird so we're hoping that keeps the locals home. Another 2 to 4 forecasted by noon. Currently snowing in the valley. 1 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 Second tram. Everything is open. Snow is falling. Looking like it's strait to mineral basin. Quote
toast21602 Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Fuck yeah! Love a good mineral run before it gets tracked as shit. Get at it! Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 Hidden peak was foggy as shit with 0 visibility so we hauled ass to the gad valley. Great decision. It's knee deep in spots and visibility is so much better. 2 Quote
JFskiDan Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 No visibility up top. Yet......trees r sweet and storm seems to be overproducing for us. Some nice pics on the camera so yer gonna have to wait. Loading up on lots of healthy snowbird food. Getting ready for round 2. No reason to stop at 1 oclock. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 Dan got some amazing pictures that he'll post later. Here's a few from my phone. 4 Quote

RidgeRacer Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) Sitting in the cliff lodge. This may have been one of the, if not the best ski day of my life. I'll post more later. I'm beat. Dan took one more run. Waist deep in spots. UN f-in believable. Another pic below. Stay tuned though. Dan has some baller action shots. toast21602 Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 that doesn't look waist deep - but glad you having a good time already. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 that doesn't look waist deep - but glad you having a good time already. It is waist deep in spots. Higher up in mineral basin, in the trees in Peruvian and in the cirque its waist deep. That picture was on chips run - a traverse. It never stopped snowing. By the way there's a ton of people from PA here. Quote
toast21602 Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 sorry to hear that. it sucks when its so deep. you get all of this snow in your face. here's to hoping for no snow and groomed trails! Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 Alright... We scored the second tram of the day. In the tram line Dan got hit on by a 75 year old woman from Stowe. In the tram some dude farted so that was the last time we ride it. We made it to the top of hidden peak and it was windy as hell and there was 0 visibility at 11k. We skied under the little cloud lift then to get lift a few times then figured that we would have better luck in the gad valley... That we did... Untouched all over the place and much easier to see. Hung out there till lunch then took the gad zoom over to big Emma and to the Peruvian lift. The best, deepest snow was in the gulch so we hung out there for a bit then hit the tunnel too mineral basin. The trees in Peruvian were sick. Basin was deep but had a weird later of crust underneath. Two runs later we hit decided to ski the cirque. It snowed all day and didn't stop. The storm produced more than they were calling for. Not to mention they got 2 feet over the weekend so it worked out. Great day 1 at snowbird. 1 Quote
JFskiDan Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Picture time: visibility from the Tram at 9:00 Gad Valley - the weekend snow really made today just that much better. White room This is definetly not how we do things in PA 7 Quote
Kyle Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Sounds like alot of fun. I'm real jealous. Quote
phillycore Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 Is it just my phone or are the pics not coming up? Sounds like you guys scored again... Ummmm except for the assquake and 75 y/o tater baiter Quote
JFskiDan Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 What is that last picture? Its a tunnel that goes through the mountain. If you dont buy a lift ticket with the tram scam included, thats the way you get to mineral basin. Quote
toast21602 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 tunnel. looks good to me! good pics! 1 Quote
sibhusky Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) I guess it was so long ago that I was there I only remember a modern, mall-like lodge, the tram, and the fact that we were so socked in we got lost. And some boarder yelled at me for accidentally hitting him with my pole as he blasted by me... Didn't even know he was there. Edited February 27, 2013 by sibhusky Quote
guitar73 Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) awesome pics! hope you and ridge racer are having a blast out there! Edited February 27, 2013 by guitar73 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 27, 2013 Author Report Posted February 27, 2013 little cottonwood canyon was the big winner yesterday. Snowbird is reporting 10 in the past 24 hours so we were in the right place yesterday. Alta is reporting 8. The plan was to ski solitude today but the plan has changed to Alta. Solly is reporting 2. So Alta it is. 1 Quote
