Skiier14 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Just got back from the Grand Opening party at the "new" Montage. The new owners did an outstanding job, with everything from the new entrance, the new lodge, lodge and retail/rental buildings, and overall atmosphere of Montage. Everything was first class, and if this is an indication, this ski season and years to come will be amazing. Sure made Sno feel like a joke. Edited December 5, 2013 by Skiier14 6 Quote
poconoceancity Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Good news! Was the long haul running? Quote
Schif Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 I was going to head up there tonight, but I got caught up putting up Christmas Lights, and I figured the party wouldn't involve getting my pass picture done anyway so I skipped it. Glad to hear it's looking good up there. I'll snap some pictures tomorrow when I run up to get my pass. Quote
toast21602 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 good to hear. I'm fairly excited to get up there again. I enjoyed it when it was Sno, I'm sure I will when it is Montage as well - especially with upgrades. Mixilplix Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 That is great news....I did have a good time when I was there last season..... Quote
guitar73 Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 What runs are open? per montage's website: Friday’s trails will include Boomer, Cannonball, Mainline, Whistler with Terrain park, Limited, Nordic, and Connection. Quote
Schif Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 This weather is a little iffy. If I can find a few dry hours maybe I'll poke around up there for a bit, but I'm not counting on being on the snow until tomorrow at this point. Quote
Schif Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 2 northface trails open for today, the weirdest thing about the snow up there is that as of last night, half the lazy river is still exposed in the base area. It cuts off the Mainline/highball trails and the shuttle lift off from everything else by a chasom of concrete. I had a little report all done up last night, but my pictures wouldn't work, so I'll have to redo it when I get a chance today Quote
Schif Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Is long haul running? There aren't any open trails serviced by long haul yet. Quote
NMSKI Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Waste of snow. You'd think they could put a cover on it or something. Quote
Schif Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 You'd think they could put a cover on it or something. Maybe they are waiting on a shipment of barrels? They seem to have done everything else right, so I can't imagine they would blow it by pushing snow into the lazy river. Quote
guitar73 Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 How's the Sno holding up at Sno? Anything on the northface open? yes...cannonball and boomer. obviously you didn't read my post Quote
toast21602 Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Can you ski right over the lazy river? Right now do people have to take off their skis and walk around it? I'm glad blue isn't building the waterpark where people ski. Yeah then it won't look like the camelback circus. 1 Quote
KCSKI Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Don't worry about the Lazy River...a few years ago after it was first installed they tried the barrell technique...the weight of the snow and constant driving over the area with the cats crushed a lot of them making an issue as the season wore on...so, it's just best to cover with the guns. When the river is covered you would never know it was under the snow..so, don't worry about it. If I get a chance I'll post a pic of what it looks like under normal Winter operations...unfortunatly the weather this week screwed things up again for them, but...gonna get cold..real cold, so that should take care of this issue. KCSKI Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 Same General area viewed from different angles, so..in the Winter and if you have never been to Montage, you'll never know what is under the snow unless someone tells you. 1 Quote
trackbiker Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 They have a conditions report but no trail map on the website yet. I know that the trail layout has not changed but for those who have never been there, there is no map. I don't know about others, but every time I go to a new area, the first thing I look at is the trail map. Quote

Schif Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 They posted the trail map on their facebook today, as far as I know it's not on the website yet. Quote
snoskier Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 I love the snow capped peaks in the background! 2 Quote
