toast21602 Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 better to get out tomorrow night. Quote
tnt Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 Yeah, that thought crossed my mind as well. Quote
RootDKJ Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I'm currently debating if I want to head up tomorrow afternoon and play riders of the storm or shoot up on Wed for great conditions (but no pow). Quote
toast21602 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Thinking of tomorrow afternoon. 1 Quote
RootDKJ Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I'm probably going tomorrow mid morning till mid-afternoon. Dirty Jersey is about to get dumped on so Wednesday is gonna be an XC day! 1 Quote
thedude4bides Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I called out of work:). Riders of the storm:lol: Quote
indiggio Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Blue's webcams look like they're not getting a whole lot of snow, but it could be an illusion. Also, 6-pack isn't running either. Quote
zzslope Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 The six broke while we were on it about 1/3 of the way up. They used an axillary generator to inch us to the top. I asked a maintenance guy what broke, he said it was an electrical problem. Quote
RootDKJ Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Edge deep at blue. Nice skiing though. Quote
JFskiDan Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 I keep running that PASR day at Frost through my mind, when a bunch of us jumped of the East Mountain lift. Grumpy lifts suck. Quote

Johnny Law Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 The race lady last night said they blew a motor after the electrical issue and a replacement was getting overnighted from France. Also the winch cats hydro motor is busted that's getting sent from Germany.....passes will now be 50$ higher next year lol Rode from 3-6, it was real gud. 2 Quote
indiggio Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Probably don't do shit to maintain the equipment and then just scramble when shit breaks... Looks like the snow line is along the blue ridge, webcams look like there's hardly anything falling up there at all. Monday when 6-pack was down, went over to quad and there was a mech hauling a blower or heater with big duct on it over to the 6-pack. Edited January 22, 2014 by indiggio Quote
toast21602 Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 You guys know that Blue bought the six pack used. from? Quote
tnt Posted January 22, 2014 Author Report Posted January 22, 2014 I've got about 6-8 in my yard and it's still coming down strong. Blue isn't getting this? Quote
Johnny Law Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Both the quad and sixer were used from mad river lift company,I don't know what mtn they are from. Most non mega resorts buy chairs second hand that shit is pricey. Quote

Johnny Law Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 What's the general cost of the install? Even if the lift is discounted, that shit can't be cheap... The lift can be anywhere from 300k to 22 million depending on the lift. Install can be cheap if it's a replacement with pads and what not. If it's virgin the total install cost can be two to three times what the lift costs. A lot of the lift companies ignored the fixed grip market until last year, if you weren't Vail and dropping 20mil they didn't care which helped create the second hand market. Quote

Mad River was maybe the broker or did the install? If they were used lifts where did they come from? There is not a lot of 6-packs that have been removed. Quote

I don't know much about the 6er. I was under the impression it was installed new. Quote
mbike-ski Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 The best snow tonight was on main st, switchback and lazy. Made for a good workout and kept warm skating to the quad. Saw root and Johnny law when I first got there just after 4 then never saw ''em again. Blue got 2-3, by no means a pow night but it sure did make a nice squeaky smooth tread. 1 Quote
indiggio Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I had heard, when they put in the original Challenge double, that they sized the footings/supports for a future 6-pack. If so, they wouldn't have had to shell out the total expense when they finally converted. Quote
