GeorgeCostanza Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 Okemo has been blowing since November 1st and says they are going to continue. Very excited, never skied their but will check it out if they open soon Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 I feel like George is the second coming of Rajeev... Quote
RootDKJ Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 I didn't like it. The whole place felt disconnected. Two lifts to go t2b is a bunmer 1 Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Very odd lift out of the base area setup. Definitely not a fan of that. Jackson Gore was fun, but 2 days there is enough for me. Quote
GeorgeCostanza Posted November 5, 2014 Author Report Posted November 5, 2014 What's your preference if your going to VT to ski where would you pick? Quote
RootDKJ Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Bolton Valley, not joking either. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Best in Vermont for low intermediates and families. One of the worst for advanced skiers. Crowded and expensive. Bolton valley gets alot of snow and is uncrowded but crazy flat Stowe is the best in Vermont. 2 Quote
guitar73 Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 i'd second the vote for stowe....i'd also put sugarbush and smuggs in there as well. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Stowe, sugarbush, jay peak, mad river glen are in the top tier on Vermont. Smuggs is good terrain but crappy snowmaking and lifts. Killington is in the second tier. It's huge and has some steeps but can be contested. Bottom tier is Okemo, mount snow, Stratton and Bolton valley. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Yeah if PA skiing is a 10 and Vermont is a 30 out west is 100 2 Quote
Ride Delaware ? Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Killington has Pico which is massively underrated and has fewer crowds than Killington proper. Sugarbush is nice, but I spend most of my time over at Mellen to avoid crowds as well. Kinda the same deal as KMart and Pico. Bolton is fun as hell and has a bunch of hidden woods that are really fun. Smuggs is awesome but definitely has some dilapidated infrastructure. The farther north you go, the better the snow, terrain, and mountain size. But your definitely driving way further. My condo at the Bush is 2.5 hours from some of the southern resorts, so you better be prepared to drive. 1 Quote
Johnny Law Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 I've had days in VT that are on par with the west snow wise, terrain maybe not but that doesn't mean it was easier just different. Timing is key in VT. Stowe, Killy, Magic....if it snows like alot alot and it's a weekend ditch Killy and go to Pico.......a quiet gem for really two trails and access was Ascutney, shame that place didn't make it excellent trees....Are you trying to get your SO to slob your knob ? Suicide Six, Woodstock Inn is nearby, romantic restaurants and all that shit, Six is small but excellent tree lines and surprising steeps for such a small hill, great place for a 1/2 day. Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Do married men really have to drive their chick to an inn in Vermont to get a blowjob...wow just wow Quote
Johnny Law Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) Do married men really have to drive their chick to an inn in Vermont to get a blowjob...wow just wow I don't, one my lady isn't a huge VT fan and two I'm a freak so......but everybody needs some romance in their lives. OP There is a name missing from this discussion....Jay Peak...jay is like a really bad ex gf. She was insane, some days just fucking perfect others ice cold. After you broke up she got into meth and is totally different, occasionally for a fleeting moment you can relive the glory days but the old jay is dead. One of the absolute deepest days ever in 33 years of skiing was at jay, I drove mad hours through the night, chick running the breakfast at Jay hotel let me eat for free because I slept in the car and the breakfast buffet had jello shots. The kid running the ticket booth wasn't even sure if they were going to open, the sp on the first tram told everyone not to ski Green Beret but that he knew we would anyways. That's the Jay I love but she got fat Canadian stacks and no longer exists. Bush is for $$$$ wannabes though the rock has some mad fucking technical lines. Slokemo is fine if someone else is paying or you got one of those baller slope side houses, it's flat so party it up and take some easy runs.....better yet drive 15 mins and go to Magic. They actually appreciate your money are cool as fuck and the terrain is way way better than Okemo, just don't expect anything fancy. Edited November 5, 2014 by Johnny Law 1 Quote
trackbiker Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Magic is the place to be in southern VT. But there has to be enough natural snow. They have limited snowmaking. 1 Quote

Johnny Law Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 There is an old now closed ski area that you can ski from Magic, its pretty fucking sweet. Quote
trackbiker Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 There is an old now closed ski area that you can ski from Magic, its pretty fucking sweet. Timber Ridge is now privately owned. The owner has a snowcat to groom the slopes and to use as a lift. Quote

JFskiDan Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 Bush is for $$$$ wannabes though the rock has some mad fucking technical lines. i skied stowe and sugarbush last year. Castlerock is really what i remember about that trip as being tops. Conditions were better at Sugarbush, not awesome at Stowe, but i am sure castlerock can be icy east coast death at times too. Quote
trackbiker Posted November 5, 2014 Report Posted November 5, 2014 What ? When did that happen ? Any news articles ? At least up until 2009 the World Quarterpipe Championships were held there. Guys son is a professional snowboarder. http://snowboardsecretsblog.blogspot.com/2008/03/world-quarter-pipe-championship-2008.html They also host the The Friendly Gathering in the summer. http://www.frendlygathering.com/#about They also were featured on Building Wild last January on the National Geographic Channel. http://tvblogs.nationalgeographic.com/2014/03/21/what-you-missed-on-building-wild-top-of-the-world/ Seems like quite the party place. I don't think the guy minds if you hike it or access it from Magic though. Quote
