Kyle
Tonight was awesome before the rain. Everything skied nice, including mtb trail "1" to the skiers left of timberline. Lots of fun to be had deep in those woods. Plus it's funny to see the look on the lifties face when you come tearing out of the woods down by the pond. I am not familiar with the bike trails, where do you dip in? Near the Nastar shack? Is it like a narrow luge type deal or can you bounce around between some trees in and out of the trail? Is it like a narrow luge type deal or can you bounce around between some trees in and out of the trail? You enter in on skiers left of tiMberline. Some places are pretty tight but it does open up a little bit. There needs to be a decent amount of snow to go back there and you have to be aware of your surroundings at all times because there's some drop offs and pretty big rocks down there. It'll take you about 4 runs to find the entrance but once you're in there you'll know. patrol will shit bricks if they see you in there though so be weary. Night is the best time to do it it's got enough light from the trails to see in, but people on the lift and timberline can't see you. And doug, it's not really a stash. Most people know about it they just never go in there because timberline is closed most of the time. Regardless, it's bear creek and thedude skis there regularly so I don't have a problem telling him where it is. If there isn't racing tonight and I head up I'll try to get some pictures for you guys.
PASKIINGSUCKS
surprisingly with all the snow we had last year that's probably the one spot of woods on that mountain that I didn't shred. I'm working thursday night so I think I'm taking the wide skis.

Kyle
Heard some ramblings yesterday on the lift from a patrolled that they're planning on closing at the end of the month. My guess would be the 30th. They have the snowmobile races on the 29th. I'd like to see them make it till April.
Johnny Law
30th would be pretty long for them no ? It's been awhile but my recollection was always around the 20th of March.

Yes the 30th would be long. They have a good amount of snow though, granted it's going to be warm as hell these next few weeks but I think they could make it. Maybe a snowstorm this weekend.
PASKIINGSUCKS
Years past have almost always been mid march, like the 15th. Official word right now is "we haven't yet set a closing date" as far as I know. Last year they closed before the races, so take that for what it's worth I guess. Nothing solid has been mentioned to us yet that's for sure. And yea thursday was frickin awesome, I worked that night and we got in a little pow riding. Had to take the K2 maidens for full floaty potential. I'd say they ended up with 10 or 11 inches when it was all said and done. I hope you're right doug, I'm not done with winter yet. Johnny Law
I'll say this, consensus is among professionals that march 15thish to first week in April will be colder than usual for the EC. Two storm potentials, both are going to have temp issues but it's certainly possible. If you made me bet I say both storms are going to drop some snow around us but we'll mostly get rain, even more importantly a high pressure will come in after this transition back to colder air which should keep all the rain away. Honestly now your better off with cold high pressure because storms are way too likely to drop rain.
Mixilplix
No way they go into April...They have a wine festival on the fourth of April so they won't be open...need space in the lodge.... If the crowds are good they may stay open to the 29th....One can only hope....

Kyle
Heard from A few other guys on patrol tonight that they were told last day would be March 22nd. I feel like this happens every year where they name a closing date for the sake of naming one and then stay open a little longer.

Kyle
They were open for riding the day of the races last year. I thought they werE closed day of the races then open up the next day? I could be wrong though. They were open afterwards I know that much Because they had the late season park on timberline

Pretty much lapped the Timberline park all day with just a couple other people. Snow was good as well.

toast21602
That sucks. Montage is closing too. And they are in a colder area. At least you have that going for you... Major bummer though.
JFskiDan
Im gonna be suprised if JF is open this weekend. But, if Montage and Bear are closing after this weekend, maybe they open just so they dont have to claim they were the first to close. i looked at the cams last weekend at Frost and there wasnt much activity on east mt.
