GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 Pretty cool read on trail steepness. http://www.gondyline.com/angle-of-ski-trails.php I wonder what the elevator be be? Elevator is prob in the low to mid 30s for a few turns. Quote
NMSKI Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 Elevator maybe a little bit steeper but not much. Been a couple years since I skied elevator so I might be a little off. Funny that Al's is high on that list, Longhorn, which is right next to it is longer and significantly steeper. Quote
RidgeRacer Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 The very top of the elevator is steeper, especially the baller route on skiers left. The elevator is much shorter though. Both are legit runs. Quote
toast21602 Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 surprised Mount Mik trails aren't on there. I'll get on that. 3 Quote
trackbiker Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 Any feeling for what they might have open tomorrow? I was thinking of using one of my morning tickets since they are good on holidays. Quote
Shadows Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 Last time i was there i thought the real steap trail couldve easily been the height of a legit cliff drop top to bottom. Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 How do you get to this Elevator? It's at Frost I gather but clearly unmarked. Quote

Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Gotcha I've been too lily livered to try that any number of times Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Elevator is 33 degrees for 15-20 feet!!! Steep enough for avalanches. Most of Jackson hole is 30 degrees plus. Quote
phillycore Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Honestly...the elevator is only good when the snow is right. It hasn't been all year and won't be unless we get a thaw cycle to loosen the base than it snows a lot while it's still kinda warm. Right now any snow it gets is only good for the first person as it slides straight down. It's definitely over hyped. 1 Quote

guitar73 Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 kinda have to agree with phillycore.....it's been way to icy to enjoy skiing it. we need like another foot or so to make it skiable. that said, the elevator is one of my favorite PA trails. Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Ok I feel like less of a wuss now that you all have chimed in 1 Quote
RidgeRacer Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Well the over hyping of the elevator is kinda our fault. Lol 1 Quote
NMSKI Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Gotcha I've been too lily livered to try that any number of timesGo for it! If you're not used to skiing anything that steep its a pretty good start since its short and if you lose control you won't slide into anything. 2 Quote
GrilledSteezeSandwich Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Here's a video of the elevator from 2011... It's a 22 second video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AOSwmli5_7M 1 Quote
Ski2Live Live2Ski Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 Do white lightning all the time. Just always looks unstable on elevator. 1 Quote
